Maybe this should be in painting and modeling, but I was wondering if there were any models I could use as mechanics or just off duty soldiers and the like. (I play Chaos/Tau) I had the idea I could take the Imperial guard crew and replace their heads and remove the imperial icons to make off-duty fire warriors but beside that I got nothing.

Well you got a couple options, there are the Forge World "At Ease" soldiers

Also GW used to have tank riders that you could model on some terrain to be "relaxing" They are OOP as far as I know (from the Valhallan line)

Those last two were the ones I was talking about converting actually! But does anyone know if the plastic would bond to the metal?

yes it will...well not plastic cement, i use super glue..I have an entire OOP legion of the damned army. All metal bodies with plastic arms and metal bolters.

If you're using two different materials it's best to pin them together. Also, for this sort of thing I use two part epoxy instead of glue. It's a much stronger bond.
