Wasn't certain if this was the right section or not, but I was considering doing the 2 battalion trick with Ogre kingdoms. I was curious to know how many spare parts - eg. extra gnoblars, bodies, legs etc. there would be from each set, just so I know how far I can push the bits.
Cheers!

EDIT: AKA On top of the 4 Lead Belchers, 6 Ogres and 6 Iron guts, what other things can I pull out of a battalion box?

Well you won't have any extra ogre bodies, but the box does have the bits to make 8 Ironguts and not the advertized 6. However that would require you to make 2 less bulls or leaddies. And there are enough bits to make 16 bulls if you wished.

I believe there are 4 pack Gnoblars per unit, so you could get 12ish gnoblars out of it per battalion if you had bases for them. More if you made 40mm unit filler bases with the models instead.

You will have a TON of extra clubs, great weapons, arms, gutplates(armored and not), as well as a host of misc items like bags, banners, pieces of meat, etc... More than enough to make some of the bodies into butchers or bruisers.

I read on a forum somewhere that it was 2 gnoblars per sprue per unit, but I guess that's wrong then. Still, 12 aint too shabby - of the 2 battalions I could easily get a unit of say 20, then a few characters like a BSB bruiser, Slaughtermaster, and butcher.

I personally wouldn't use the unit fillers, but that's just me.

Just so you know, 10 Gnoblars on their own are a unit you can use (minimum size is only 10), and are perfectly viable units as well. They make fantastic speed bumps, and can even be upgraded to force your opponent to take dangerous terrain tests should they charge them.

Wouldn't 10 just get absolutely grinded in like one round of combat?

That's the idea. They are just to slow the enemy down while you make a counter attack with a regiment of Bulls.

They are only like 2 points each, so you aren't losing anything important.

Of course they would, but the unit that has charged it, potentially a very expensive and very dangerous unit, has just wasted a turn taking out 25 points of your army. Which is one turn less where they're dealing huge damage or destroying some of your own, expensive, more valuable units.

So it is better to run them as speed bumps than as a 20 man or more unit?

The thing is that 20 Gnoblars are going to die just as easily as 10.

Ok that makes sense.

Also to clarify, the final word was around 12 guys from the battalion was it?
