So, it's considered a pretty gak upgrade and any upgrades in general for trukks aren't liked because trukks are made from paper.

However it's one of the very few high strenght hits orks can cause with any reliablility and it turns a trukk into a threat even when it's separated from it's cargo. Simply having the potential to wreck a vehicle means you have an unit that can do something which is so rare with the orks.

I'm thinking of running four trukker squads that are 10 shootaboys, a big shoota and a trukk with wrecking ball, that's 110 points. Nobs I just consider a waste of points since boyz just die to everything so fast.

Of course the trukkers primary purpose is to survive and take objectives, however often Orks are pretty desperate and even having a chance to do something can make the game more intresting. It's 40 points for the army, in the grand scheme of things that doesn't really get you anything, it's what, two Kannons, which in turn can't cause S9 hits at all. A wreckin' ball can actually penetrate LR armor.

I'm not saying it's amazing but if you're taking trukkers anyway you might as well give them some ability to deal with other vehicles, which is always so damn hard with Orks.

If you took the PK nobz then each trukk can have a chance at killing vehicles with him, and he makes the squad worthwhile against other targets as well. Sorry, but the PK remains the only real use for Boyz, and especially Trukk Boyz, in the majority of cases. I simply can't think of anything that Ork Trukks full of 10 shoota boyz will achieve which wouldn't be better done by footslogging mobz of 20+ or 20 in a battlewagon.

Wreckin' Balls are a bad upgrade? I thought they were just something people slapped across their army list sometimes and only hoped the situation comes up where they cause some damage but don't really care what happens. Like Melta Bombs, I guess.

I just like the idea of wreckin' balls and death rollas. They are good upgrades to take for fluff alone.

Why not? I would take one. The off chance I can make itto the lrc. Usually just speed it full steam and pray for a ramshackle

Ehh, if it was 5 points I'd slap it on every Trukk. I just see it as a 33% price increase, not a 10 point upgrade

Try taking it on a scrap trukk if they can get it. Pretty sure they can. Those trukks come with a free Grabba klaw - so lock a vehicle in place and then bash it to death =D

Boarding planks are so.much more useful. I always take a PK nob with my boyz so an extra 5pts per squads is nothing. It allows the trukk to pop a vehicle without the guys needing to get out.

The reinforced ram is probably a better choice than the wrecking ball.

I more or less take it just for fun. But I like putting it on my vehicles because it makes em looks nice.

My trukkz generally don't get a ball , as they will never get to use it.

My BW sometimes do though

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

To be honest, i don't remember having a truck survive past turn 2 in 6-th edition if it carries something meaningful. Now you could possibly try to take a wrecking ball. But i see it working only if noone's inside a truck. So drop the boyz on the point and go try to kick something. Though, odds are against u.

Basically, i see a truck more appropriate for a suicide-bomb thing vs t3 gunlines or hordes. Don't even sit in a truck at the start of a game. Go max speed with an empty truck straight forward to the gunline - preferably with at least 5+ cover save. Than if he doesn't kill an emty truck - ride forward and tankshock everything you can. And hope that he gets annoyed by a barebonez truck and shoots at it. The moment he shoots at a truck - it kabooms. And you get a d6 range s3 ap- blast that can kill a dozen of t3 guyz around and distract at least some shooting. That's how you make a ramshackle table work for you - cause you got decent chances of kabooming a truck even if it's wrecked. So use it for u'r advantage. I'd not bother with wrecking balls cause a 50 pts truck...ain't really great.
