Hi all,

I will be playing a series to local tournament games. Game size is 2500 points and super heavy are allowed.
What should Space Wolves take in order to have a chance of wining?
Today i've played a games against Nurgle marines with 3 Helldrakes and Nurgle Plague Tower. My Loganwing was wiped out by turn 5.
Any hints how to not get killed next time?

Against superheavies, I think the best bet is podding in cheap-as-possible Wolf Guard with combi-meltas, or termies kitted for AT CC if you think you will survive dropping in the enemy's face out of a pod.

LC long fangs are probably too fragile if you're facing D weapons, as are las-preds, so I think getting in close and melta/chainfist is your best bet.

Lone Wolves. Normal chainfist/terminator armor/storm shield. Cheap enough to be ignored, strong enough to do significant damage to super heavies.

Love the Lone Wolf idea. They are oddly cheap for their load out. If you can afford/have Fenrisian Wolves, taking them for 'Look Out Sir!' rolls is worth it.

Other ideas I'm currently toying with are:

Hammerlord (Wolf Lord w/ Thunderhammer and SS and Saga of the Bear) with TWC. Expensive and a fire magnet but soo much fun and they can close the distance extremely quickly. Having a large LoS blocking structure (like the Fortress of Redemption) helps alleviate the majority of any T1 alphas against you going second.

Drop Pods with Combi-melta Wolf Guard. Ultra cheap combi-spam. As long as your opponent leaves a hole, you can put on some serious hurt. If he's bubble wrapped, take a couple pods of combi-plasma. Drop those first and then the meltas later once the bubble wrap is gone.

Logan Grimnar + Long Fangs w/ Multimelta's in a Drop Pod. Very efficient points wise as Multi-meltas are cheap. Logan gives them Relentless or Tank Hunters. You can invest another 100 points for a Wolf Priest to give them Preferred Enemy(LoW unit type) but at that point it starts to become an Eggs in One Basket Scenario.

20 Wolfguard with combi-meltas should knock almost any superheavy down.

In such high point games, I'd think that Arjac would almost be mandatory. There is little that 5, S10 Thunderhammer attacks can't solve.

But I also agree with Baines4652. Chainfists are your friends in these sort of situations at well.

Combi Meltas are your friend. For about 200 points, you've got 8 of them coming in on turn 1. That's easily enough to kill most super heavies. If you're facing something particularly nasty, take 8 more. (I say 8 because I always use the last 2 to give CML to my Long Fangs.)
If you're facing bio-titans, nothing kicks ass quite like Thunderwolves with a Wolf Lord. Storm Shields and a Thunder Hammer for the wolves, the lord gets kitted out. Against destroyer weapons you're hopeless, but against Bio-Titans you won't have a hard time.

And, if you end up fighting a Transcendent C'Tan, just take a buttload of Missile Launchers. Or a drop pod full of combi-plasma.

this pretty much lays down your best options, melta the hell out of superheavies and theyll go down in a heartbeat--just be careful risking logan out there without alot of other drop support.

dont even worry about logan if you are going to pod in wolfguard...they will die. Horrible deaths....paying the grimnar tax to make them scoring is probably not worth it. Then again, you are playing 2.5k

combi meltas on wolfguard are the best way to go. you plop them in your opponents backfield, they blow stuff up and then proceed to die. Kind of like termicide units.

Did this against a Warlord Titan (and 3 squads full of combi meltas). We rolled apocalyptic blast oncee I killed it... and took out 95% of his army thanks to the whole nuclear reactor thing..

Well if your only Drop Pod has Logan in it, you're asking for trouble. He would go in a 100% pod list. I have a 1500 list just for this occasion:
HQ
Logan Grimnar
Wolf Priest w/ Runic Armor

Troops
Wolf Guard x7 w/ Combi-Plasma x5, Drop Pod
Wolf Guard x7 w/ Combi-Plasma x5, Drop Pod
Wolf Guard x7 w/ Combi-Plasma x5, Drop Pod
Wolf Guard x7 w/ Combi-Melta x5, Drop Pod
Wolf Guard x7 w/ Combi-Melta x5, Drop Pod

Heavy Support
Long Fang Squad x5+1 w/ Multi-melta x5, Drop Pod

it comes out to exactly 1500 points. Obviously as you go higher you add more pods and flesh them out. Alternatively is you can drop the Wolf Priest and give each of the Wolf Guard a Terminator and more combi-weapons.

Hi,

What is the Wolf Priest role in that list?

Wolf Priest gives the unit he's attached to Preferred Enemy(Unit Type) where you declare Unit Type at the beginning of the game. So you can declare Super-heavy Walker/Tank or Gargantuan Creature. Less effective against Walker/Tanks but being able to re-roll 1s to hit is really nice.

I've played a game versus Imperial Guard. Benblade was destroyed by two rounds of assault by Lone Wolf and Logan. Chainfists did the trick far more better than Meltas.

Arjac is a must, setlle up your Wolf Priests with Preffered enemy tanks,

also keep in thought for a few points, using Lukas the Trickster, if you think you will be able to sneak them in, and keep him alive he is a good last laugh sorta thing I have always wanted to use on a super heavy.

the superheavy would have to squish him though which means youd have to take claws. It would be extremely epic to take down with him though.

he comes with Wolf claws and a plasma pistol. I imagine your opponents wont expect to see a squad of Blood Claws in a tourney and might just run him over for the lulz, only to be forever stuck in a rage face.
