February 8th, thats 30 days before. But it still has to fall into whats legal in the tournament, if that makes sense. Will post a more "finalized ruleset" as time permits.

Packet Question: The packet says that you "may" choose a unit to be your command unit. Do you have to choose one or can you avoid choosing one in order to deny your opponent the oppertunity of killing the unit and getting the poins for it?

Yes, that is correct. There is no requirement to use a command unit, but there is intentionally no downside to you to do so. You can, however, deny your opponent the opportunity to get those points. Some of these missions are difficult. I felt having the option for an extra scoring unit may help some.

Sounds like a great idea in a take all commers list. What I fear will result however, is a scoring Daemon Prince, Fate Weaver, Ovesa Star, Screemer Counsel, or scoring Jetseer councel. If you can make one of these units scoring you basically auto-win mission 1 for sure. Just park your deathstar on the enemy Emperor and kill more stuff then him/her... I think these units being allowed to score would open up an even larger power gap then already exists in the Meta.

Just my opinion, I plan on coming regardless. Always like to play at Borderlands when I can.

The packet rules limits your choices to elites, fasts, and heavies. So DPs are out unless they match a GD, no Fateweaver, only the base riptide in the squad not Ovesa or Commanders, and Jetseers don't count. The only one of that list really prone to abuse is the Screamers, but I know of at least 3 armies coming piloted by some of our ATC team that just shuts that down. You're playing the lottery not pulling one of them at that point.

The post above is correct, that the command unit MUST come from Fast, Elite or Heavy. That was intentional, as I do feel that some of the units outside the Force Org could be somewhat abusive. Screamerstar could be a problem, I guess, but not really any more than it contesting an objective, which it could do anyways. It, by far, has the most "randomness" to make it work, so I feel that its ok. And, if you run your 1000 point unit forward and just "camp" an objective, youre not getting much out of that unit in the game. We'll see, I guess, but those are my thoughts. I am certainly open to feedback, so keep it coming, and I am glad you can make it! Make sure to call the store to sign up.

I must be missing somehting in the packet then. The only restrictions I am seeing are:
Copy/Paste from the Packet

"**Each mission, you may choose any unit that is not a vehicle, swarm, or independent character. This unit becomes your command unit and counts as scoring. Units whose codex rules state they may never be scoring cannot be made a command unit (Death Company, etc). This unit may change from game to game, but must be clearly marked to your opponent in each game."

I am not a Chaos Daemons player but pretty sure Daemon Princes are not IC's, nor is Fate Weaver (just based on the fact that I have never seen anyone try and hide either of these in a squad to protect them) Are they IC's?

Hmm..will look at that. Maybe accidentally posted an older version. That was the only thing that changed. Will make that change ASAP.

I'm liking the idea of the command unit. You should give a prize to the first person that loses their command unit to a sabotaged mysterious objective. LOL!

That would be interesting. I'm curious to see what sort of army diversity we will have.

Twitch do you need us to submit lists in advance? Or can we just bring them up on Sat?

As of this moment we are full at 30 people! We have a wait list started with 1-2 on there already. We can take more wait listers, just call Borderlands and leave a number. We will call you the week of the tournament if space opens up.

As far as lists go, just bring them and the $10 entry fee the day of the tournament.

Just updated with the final packet. No rules changes, just added that Knights and Legion of the Damned are not allowed due to release date proximity to the tournament. See everyone there at 830am on Saturday!

I played a test game this weekend. Naturally the first two objectives I touched were sabotaged.

Glad I got to practice running away from them...

I wouldnt expect anything less!

Do we need to print out a copy of the packet or are there going to be copies there in the morning?
