Hi everyone. How do you play this card?

It says discard the card. But recently watching battle report on YouTube by miniwargaming they mention getting in touch with FFG and were told to treat it as facedown damage card.

I've not seen this in recent FAQ.

So how do you play it

Determination on a pilot lets you immediately discard, without resolving, any faceup damage card with the keyword 'pilot' on it assigned to that pilot. You don't discard the determination card, that stays. It's a good upgrade if you can't think of a better talent to put on and have the points spare.

The damage card is discarded entirely and never counted or resolved. Compare the wording to similar rules that negate the effect of a critical hit but keep it as a face-down damage card, they say "flip face down without resolving", not "discard".

I disagree about its usefulness though. Pilot damage cards are only a minority of the deck, and critical hits (that don't hit shields) are only a minority of the damage you take. So when it works its awesome, but a lot of the time it's just a wasted point and elite skill slot that's literally a blank card. Even if I'm limited to 1-point upgrades I'd rather take veteran instincts or adrenaline rush.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Coupled with another 'survivability' type ability (Luke, R5 astromech) it can be very good. It's been worthwhile a lot for me.
