Subject: Great Zeus' Bouncy Balls, it's Codex: Hellguard,
The Hellguard are a species of xenos that are consumed by their desire for law and order. After encountering Chaos and the Warp thousands of years ago, they began a crusade to extinguish every daemon in the material plane.
Their society is almost utopian, however the Hellguard’s strange thirst for law and order commands that they follow every law to the letter; those that break those laws are punished severely. Those who commit heinous crimes are stripped of their mortal bodies and cast into the warp.
Army rules:
Undying Hatred: When playing against an army that contains models with the Daemon special rule from either Codex: Daemons or Codex: Chaos Space Marines, the Hellguard gain Preferred Enemy against those models. The enemy model(s) also gains Preferred Enemy against the Hellguard.
Wargear
Spoiler:
WEAPONS Light Lance: The main weapon of the Hellguard, this weapon combines a rapid firing energy weapon with a halberd type weapon, allowing the Hellguard soldiers the ability to react rapidly to different situations with ease. Light Lances are Power Lances that may also use the following profile in the shooting phase:
R:18” S:4 AP:5 Type: Assault 2
Heavy Light Lance: A much larger Light Lance mounted on the Ortos war beast, it can unleash a blast of white energy or focus the energy into beams of piercing light. Heavy Light Lances are shooting weapons with the following profiles:
R:36” S:7 AP:3 Type: Heavy 2
R:36” S:6 AP:3 Type: Heavy 1, Large Blast
Seraphsword: The Seraphsword is used by the elite of the Hellguard. It can cut through all but the thickest armor with ease. The Seraphsword is a power sword.
Animus Sword: Animus Swords are gifted to the High Guard of the Hellguard, the Praetorians. These weapons burn with such intensity that only the most well-trained can use them, as they melt through armor and flesh with unparalleled ease. The Animus Sword uses the following profile:
R:- S:User AP:2 Type: Melee, Two-Handed, Armorbane, Fleshbane
Angelic Blade: Symbols of their status, they are wielded only by the Archangels. They are shining blades of pure light, able to cut through even the fabric of reality if the wielder wishes to. Angelic Blades are made to the specification of those who earn them, and can vary from heavy two-handed swords to axes, and incorporates a powerful, albeit short-ranged shooting attack. R:- S:x2 AP:2 Type: Melee, Unwieldy
Spiritglaive: Another variant of the Light Lance, that incorporates a more powerful energy weapon. The Spiritglaive is a power lance that also has the following profile:

Thoughts? It is a very elite army, mainly geared towards slaughtering other elites, but horde armies are much harder for this army to deal with than, say, SM or GK.

An interesting minidex. However, I think you should finish the fluff first. What are they ? Xenos or Imperials ? What are their purposes ?
And from the gameplay perspective, I'm afraid I cannot say much, since they are unfinished, however I've seen problems here, allow me to address them:
- There are simply too many AP1, 2 and 3. I'm not against this, but why not equipping troops with weapons with worse AP, and then allowing them to buy the better ? This allows units to be cheaper, and easily to amass.
- What are the ranges of Heavy Light Lance, Spiritglaive and Lucis Cannon ? I can't find them anywhere. Also, the entry of Hellguard Champions doesn't say that they have Light Lance. Must be a typing error
- The Lucis Canon seems...odd. On one it has AP1, but on the other hand only S5. The AP1 only affects vehicles, since AP2 pretty much ignores all Armour Saves. I would bring up the S and lower the AP, and add more options.
- No unit has Assault grenades. Is this intentional ?
- You should put all wargears together in a separate entry (It is easier to read )
Your army seems to be highly mobile and durable, but struggle against horde and vehicles at range.
Overall this is really good. Can't wait to see more
Oh, hi guys. Check out my Homebrew army lists here
This is actually freaking cool. I like the whole elitist concept, it will get crushed by hordes though.
One concern is the archangel is heavily undercosted, he should be at least 210 for all that he can do, he has zealot also which confers to any squad he joins which makes them fearless and have hatred which against non chaos opponents is almost like preferred enemy in first round of close combat.
The redemptor is also undercosted big time as well, he should be at least 270 points, he is a powerhouse for real.
I like everything else, just make sure you add the ranges to those weapons with a shooting profile.
I fixed the points on the Archangel, Redemptor, and Ortos.
- AA is now 215
- R is now 305, also changed him to base S6 and weapon is S+2.
- Ortos is now 135.
The concept for the army is angelic in nature, though not necessarily so; xenos species consumed by law and order, dedicated to fighting daemons. Basically the antithesis of Chaos.
