Subject: Brainstorming Session - Skull Cannon of Khorne

Hi guys!
I'm currently building my 40k Khorne-exclusive demon army. Since my options in the ranged weapons are somewhat limited by my chosen deity I need some skull cannons. Sad thing is, the GW-provided model is uglier than a plaguebearer by moonlight. The cannon looks designwise like something out of the tyranid codex, the caliber makes me think of some heavy mashine gun at best, not something that shoots large template and the whole construction looks like a motorcycle accident in mid-progress.
So I think about scratchbuilding my own design. I've seen a nice conversion based on the GW model but drawn by two juggernauts. Which looked totally fine except that I would need the base model and two spare juggs which would makes the whole enterprise a bit on the costy side. So does anyone else have any idea what to design here in the first place?
I'm kind of unable to come up with a design for this.

Sounds like it might work out well. Just need to find a skull that is scale. I am building a Khorne army myself.

As I said, getting two kits to get one model out is somewhat undesireable, since I plan on doing at least two of these.
I thought about some 4(or better 8)-wheeled platform for the gun. I think about making individual wheelguards with those embossed rails from plasticard, but I'm not sure if my madskills are anywhere close to what will be necessary.

Personally I'd just use the stock Hellcannon model. Lovely model and an excuse to use it in 40k. What's not to like?

Uhm, yeah... looks pretty nice actually. I planned to go for a sleeker look though. Actually a cannon and not a mortar but the model is really nice. Thanks, I don't know much about WHFB and wouldn't have found the thing probably.
