This is my 1250pt guard list tweaked for 1500pt games, what do you think? My biggest question is should I get rid of the tank in favour of something else? The list is based around orders and target saturation. Creed tactical geniuses the 30 man squad to outflank and gives orders to everyone else, marbo also apears, blows something up and dies and the leman russ can provide support, any ideas on how to make it better or just how to use it? My idea is that the special and heavy weapons are so dispersed it would be hard to eliminate them all and their's so many bodies that they can overwhelm any objective by sheer weight of numbers, especially with 30 guardsmen appearing on their flank.

HQ
-CCS 235pts
Creed, plasma gun, regimental standard, 2 bodyguards, medic, vox

Elite

-Marbo 65pts

Troops

- First Platoon 347pts

-PCS
bolter for officer, 2 grenade launchers, vox

3 squads (combined)
plasma gun each, vox

-heavy weapons squad
lascannons

-Second Platoon 367pts

-PCS
bolter for officer, 2 grenade launchers, vox

-2 squads
grenade launcher, vox and rocket team each

-2 heavy weapons teams
rocket launchers

-Veteran squad 155pts
harker, 2 plasma, flamer

-Veteran squad 180pts
Bastionne, carapace armour, heavy flamer

Heavy

-Leman russ battle tank 150pts

Total: 1499pts

Your list is very close to a list i used a lot. You will have a huge amount of orders to throw out and they are reliable too. I think your army is very well done. One concern is no anti air. So unless you play without aircraft (which is fine, i do too at my club sometimes) then you may get annoyed at some enemies.

Another concern is your vets havent taken much use of special weapons. Not a big deal as there isnt much the mighty lasgun cant solve but it doesnt hurt to have a bit more imph.

Cool list though

Thanks, Anti air isn't a big issue for me right now but you're right about the special weapons thing, I was just being true to the models I actually have to avoid confusion for my opponent with so many models. In the future I will probably convert more models to have special weapons. Also I just realized that I upgraded 5 veterans in the command squad when there aren't 5 to upgrade so I switched the second plasma gun out for a second grenade launcher in each PCS and a flamer in harker's squad to protect against assaults. (I know I'm either fighting guard or tyranids so either way flamers are good.)

Yea one more possible upgrade that doesnt require gear is maybe giving harkers squad camo. Gives them another +1 to cover along with harkers stealth (so +2 all up, +3 if they are within 8" too) so that makes them very stealth mode like.

Yeah.I'll probably try that next game I play, I tried it today but I didn't get to finish the game but harker's camp was useful. His squad got hit dead on by 3 biovores (str5 ap4 pie plates) and only took 2 casualties, they then went on to put 1 wound on a flyrant with their plasma guns. The tank was not that useful and I didn't get to see the 30 man squad come in as our game was interrupted after my first turn :/ Creed is definitely awesome though.

Yea i find the tanks can be a let down, but when you dont take 1 or 2 you will regret it. Well at least we know your list is on the right track. And it sucks when games are unfinished.
