I think a 6 man Chosen squad with 5 plasma guns and a power sword and melta bombs on the champ would make a pretty decent objective taker/defender.
Also have the ability to shred that medium? armor coming at them.

Without any spare bodies, casualties will be expensive, plus you'll roll 1-2 Gets Hots a turn, this is not a unit that will survive the game.

However, stick it in a Rhino to increase it's maneauverability and go monster / terminator / centurion hunting!

A similar unit could presumably be made using Havocs (if HS isn't full yet), one less plasma gun and -1A but cheaper?

Gets hot is much less of an issue for MEQ though. Both my guard army and my chaos army run mostly plasma for special weapons. When I run guard I lose at least a few models to gets hot every game, but with chaos I rarely lose one. Don't forget, its a wound you can use your regular armour save against.

OP: If you're just having them as objective campers, why give melta bombs to the champ? Personally I think its a waste of expensive plasma guns, giving them to a unit who might be in the back field, not fighting for most of the game. I think a better use for such a chosen squad would be moving forward in a rhino, hunting medium armour & MCs, while objective campers should be a squad of fearless CSM.

The Eternity Gate

5 chosen with 4 flamers in a rhino is a good way to clear objectives.

The problem with Chaos Marines is that they lack volume of long range firepower and delivery is poor.
