First ever Necron list, my Dad's gettign in to them so I thought I'd build a list for my own enjoyment.

Imotekh
- Royal Court
-- Harbinger of Storm with Ether Crystal
-- 2x Necron Lord's with Staff of Light, Res Orb & Phase Shifter

Necron Overlord with Phase Shifter, Res Orb, Staff of Light and Tachyon arrow
- Royal Court
-- Harbinger of Storm with Lightning Field
-- Harbinger of Storm (bare)
-- Cryptek (plain & naked, goes lone wolf on an Aegis Defence Line with AA cannon of some sort)

3 squads of 18x Necron Warriors

4x Canoptek Wraiths with Whip Coils

2x Doomsday Arcs

1x Monolith

---

Theoretical Tactics

Everything bar the monolith starts out deployed on the table. Wraiths out front, followed by 3 warrior blocks (each block has a Lord with Res Orb, and a split of Harbingers. The Harbingers are there to deter assaults / deep strikes (screw you, Farsight! Surprise!)

The Monolith arrives as and when it wants to - the sooner the better - and begins to re-deploy the warrior blocks closer to rapid fire range. The doomsday arcs take up position in the back field with hopefully overlapping fields of fire and, to coin a popular phrase, blow the gak out of absolutely fething everything.

The above comes in at 2222 points, leaving a little room for the ADL with AA gun, for which I don't have the exact points value to hand. This will be manned by a single Cryptek. Dangerous, though hopefully I'd be presenting enough threats further up the board for him to go largely unnoticed. Equally though, I do think it's characterful to have a weak point in an army...

Any thoughts on how effective this would be?

Thanks,

Kitch

It looks good have lords with your troops is a strong tactic but I would load them into night scythe as fast skimmers the will have the jinks special rule and it means all that movement and all the units can shoot 360 degrees means your enemy will have nowhere to hide.
As a tau player I would be careful with the adl and one one unit as ether farsight deepstrike or shadowsuns infiltrate can target him and take control of your aa gun to use against you

That's a fair point, but not one that really worries me as you'd be using a unit that cost, what, 100 points? 200 points? To take out a 25 point model on a 50 point gun. Your doing so would save the other 2100 points of my army getting hurt from one of your beat stick units. That 2100 points can then turn on your guys and unleash hell.

Secondly, the Harbingers of the Storm are equipped to discourage from your DS'ing too close, as by doing so you take d6 S8 hits. This happens also if you charge in to combat with a unit they're in, meaning your best option is to stand and shoot them. Depending on positioning, I'd be able to bring between 20 and 40 shots per unit of warriors (potentially 60 to 120) back at you.

So perhaps Farsights best option to charge in
