We all know that the Great Devourer is upon us. Will you stand and fight or be consumed? Or will you be the scourge of mankind and consume all in your path?
I'm absolutely pumped for the Tyranid release as are my friends. They are my favorite army to play against. There's just something about facing down an endless horde of bugs and fighting when all hope seems lost that's a blast. Models get removed by the handful, but it's okay because there are more where that came from. It's fun for both players.
My favorite match up is the classic Tyranids vs Imperial Guard. Tons of bodies on the table. Pie plates dropping everywhere. Can the humans stand resolute in the face of such horror, or will they be consumed and feed the Tyranid swarm?
What are you looking forward to?

Well, the plan is to beat Nids as always, despite the fact that they will get a new codex.

You foods have got it all mixed up. The nids will prevail.
They will get point changes new psychic powers and new rules to bio morphs etc. then there will be rules changes just for tyrannies like just for them e,g. Tau get supporting fire tyrannies get such and such. I would personally like there to be something like bio points in which every unit you kill you get a bio point and you can spend them throughout the game.

You know we've already seen most of the codex, right?

To the OP you think playing tyranids is fun because you can remove "handfuls" of guys is fun....try playing skaven where you can remove 50+ 2 point models every phase if the game is big enough haha its awesome
As for the release I was going to start a tyranid army like 6 months ago but not anymore as I started Eldar instead. I am interested in seeing how the codex plays out because I think tyrannids are awesome. Hopefully it ends up being a pretty powerful army!

I have been avoiding the rumor thread for a reason. I am going down to the shop Saturday to pick up my LE preorder Codex, then sitting down with it for a couple hours before I go to work. After that, it's anyone's guess. I am scared though, for my sanity.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Considering they're losing biomancy, the swarmlord is getting nerfed, tervigons are wayy too pricey, their warlord traits are a joke ( one is literally make a jungle carnivorous if it's in 12" ) the list just goes on. Hive guard down to BS 3, There is so much terrible with this new codex. It's literally a downgrade from the abomination that was their 5th ed codex. Tyranid players got screwed in a big way...

It's a little early to be so negative about the codex isn't it? I mean I've been reading the news and rumours thread (yes all 130+ pages) and all any of the rumours have been about are the negatives with only a handful of them being verified. I'm personally pretty stoked about this codex as I've wanted to start a nid army for years I'm going to reserve judgment until I've had a chance to at least read it. There was a guy on 4 chan with the codex and proof he had the codex that verified all of the negative "rumors" nids got bent over big time man... Play them for fluff reasons if that floats your boat but they won't be competitive...

I'm getting the Codex and a Crone. I really like the new flyers, even though they both are only T5 W4 4+... Total Quad-Gun bait! :(
I do like the new psychic powers, even though they are underwhelming. Catalyst will be great, especially on a unit of 3 Carnifexesezes! (Carnifexen? Carnifi? Carnifexes? We need an English major in here.)
Deathleaper as an HQ choice makes me happy. I will be running whole armies without Synapse! Deathleaper, Lictors, Genestealers, and Biovores. I guess I like getting tabled, lol.
All MCs except Tervigons got points reductions. Tervigons got hit with the nerf bat pretty hard, actually. More expensive and less effective... just like Hive Guard. Leave it to GW to nerf the two best things in the last codex and not replace them with anything else that's decent.

The tyranids are masters of one thing and one thing only: Biological manipulation and forced evolution through the conduit that is their hive mind.
They didn't lose access to psychic powers, or your comment might have some value.

They draw their powers from the Hive Mind, which is a Warp entity, why wouldn't they be able to use Warp powers?

Because they couldn't before? They had their own unique warp manipulations back in 2nd edition and generally was far different, up until 6th they never could access 'normal' psyker type manipulations through the warp itself as they gained it from the Hive Mind itself as it's power.
It'd be like Orks suddenly gaining access to basic warp powers rather then anything from the WAAAGH! it's just odd.
The tyranids are masters of one thing and one thing only: Biological manipulation and forced evolution through the conduit that is their hive mind.

Some value, don't need to be rude.
They are indeed masters of that, but they aren't exactly calling forth the powers of the warp to temporarily evolve themselves in a manner similar to Ymgarl. Generally it's not an instantaneous process else they wouldn't be so exotic to begin with. It's evolution over time due to the process on the ships and in the 'womb', not something that involves the Hive Mind's Warp.

I wouldn't worry about the naysayers just yet. GW has an impressive track record of making codices that sell models. If they make a crap codex, nobody will buy the models. So I don't think that will... Ok I hope that won't be the case. Rumors are rumors and NOTHING is confirmed until. Well Friday for me cause I guess my flgs is selling the books a day early. (No need to post anything about how they can get in trouble, they put it on Facebook so I think they got permission and or don't care.)

Unless you were planning on entering tournaments with them, I'd still give it a go. The new book's not going to be competitive, but it'll hold up in friendly games. So if you like the army, then go for it. Eh, you never know, someone may stumble across a killer-combination later on, or we may get a fantastic supplement.

Just took a peak at 1d4chan's Tyranid tactics page, from that, it looks like it's a mixed bundle of some things getting nerfed the gak out of while other things seem fairly scary. Don't know how my brother will feel about the new Nid codex as he really loved Ymargls and regular Genestealers...
