Hey fellas, I recently got it in my head to do a Nurgle themed army. First I was gonna have some CSM allies, mainly for Plague marines
but there was no 'nurgly' troop choice. Unless you take Typhon and zombies, but Typhon is hella expensive for just that so I dropped the allies,

Now the list currently looks like this:

HQ
Great unclean one - D6 Dameonc Reward, D6 Exalted Daemonic reward, Psyker level 2

Elites
3x Beast of Nurgle (they seem really fun, a bit expensive pts wise perhaps)

Troops
20 Plaguebearers, plagueridden, Icon of Chaos- Plague Banner

20 Plaguebearers, plagueridden, Icon of Chaos- Plague Banner

Fast Attack
3x Plague Drones, , Icon of Chaos-Plague Banner, Plaguebringer, Death's heads, Rot Proboscis

Now, I've just read the codex a bit so I'm not 100% sure about upgrades and stuff, so improvements should be easy to find

My personal preference is to not take Death's Heads on the Drones as their poor enough BS and that the proboscis doesn't apply to shooting attacks.
I'd recommend taking a Plague Ridden(character upgrade) and Lesser Reward instead taking the Ether Blade as you now have a 3 wound T5 character with 4 AP2 Poisoned 3+ attacks. He is a mini Herald essentially.

You'll probably be short a few points so maybe split one Plaguebearer squad in half (Dropping that squad's Icon and Banner) and give the big squad an instrument. Then as the army is slow, leave the GUO and big PB squad in reserve and DS in on the Icon on the drones hopefully bringing in both PB squad and GUO.

The above is how I'd use them but your preference and play style may differ. Good luck in any case!

About beasts, yes they are strong, ive seen them tie up lych guard from turn 2 to 6 and still have 5 beasts standing! They are incredible tarpits as they have many wounds, and if you allocate CC wounds right, and get some good IWND rolls, you can last a long time. (makes sure all models are missing a wound at all times before putting more wounds on beasts that are already missing one, this ensures you can make as many IWND rolls per turn, and get some great HP regen)

What I'm afraid about in this list is you have very little Anti-infantry. You have great Anti-Vehicle with your Plaguebearers rust blades and GUO's smash attacks, but you have only your drones for killing infantry squads...maybe this is fine, maybe your durability makes up for your lack of the ability to take handfuls of models off the board at a time, maybe this is why I just don't like playing nurgle armies.

Or maybe not

Thanks for the tips guys, greatly appreciate it!

oh man, what in the way of nurgle is good against infantry apart from drones?

Might drop the GUO for a herald of nurgle and add more drones btw. Absolutely nothing here is set in stone apart from the theme.

Have you considered a Soul Grinder of Nurgle with Phlegm Bombardment? Expensive but it is a tough enough walker with a 48" S8 AP3 Large Blast. Provided there isn't too much cover it should shoot rather well. There is the torrent weapon as well but the Nurgle Grinder is quite slow due to Slow and Purposeful and that weapon is best on a Slaanhesi grinder

holy hell, that's pretty great. Not a huge fan of the model though so would probably have to get something 'counts-as'

Probably a good addition when it's time to expand the army ^^

Soul grinders are great. The common build for a nurgle one is with the phlegm cannon behind cover for a 2+ save.

However you could use your plaguedrones with a standard to deepstrike a torrent grinder where you wanted with some accuracy. Also lets you put some damage out against infantry/hordes.

You could try running epidemius in a list that uses a few grinders. The reason is that they could potentially rack up kills quite quickly, and so activate epidemus' ability faster.

Interweave the 2 plaguebearer squads to give them both a 3+ cover save, put epidemius towards the back and bublble wrap the GUO to give him a better cover save as well. Once you get 14 kills with the grinders/ other pychic powers, then all units in 6 will get +1T.

Definitly need a soul grinder at some point it seems

gonna go for plaguebearers with heralds with the thing that gives them FNP.

are a group of 10 plaguebearers good, or do they need to be brought in larger numbers?
