Hey Dakka, getting back into the hobby after a small break and decided to go with some C:SM as I've always been a fan, and the codex looks very interesting and really allows you to make an army your own. I've always been one for Mech Lists, and this one is no different, I'm looking for potential ways to improve the list, but what to keep the Typhoons and Vindicators if I can, as I want to get some Land Speeder Tempests from FW, but I'm more open to dropping the Vindicators. It seems a bit spammy, so I could be open to more different units, but I'd like to keep the Mech Theme. What do you guys think?

Looks very good looks like a list I would make lol

Keep double vindicators they work great in pairs. And you can get them pretty sexy vindicators FW sell then

Drop the heavy flamer on the stern guard because then you loose there awesome ammo

Also maybe consider drop pods instead of rhino rush because its too easily countered these days

Oh and might be abit light on AA but that depends on your local scene

If Air Superiority may be the problem, I could see myself dropping a tactical marine Squad and replacing the Talon for a Raven, if that would be enough with the extra firepower and durability, I could then take a unit of Scouts to keep the troop numbers up, either 5 in a Land Speeder Storm or 10 for the back sitters, Do you think 3 Troop Choices would be enough? Combat squadding could give me 6 but it seems they wouldn't be durable enough, but the extra toys with the points could help.

Always been a fan of the Red Scorpions, would love to see one of those armies on the tabletop with all the FW bits and pieces you mentioned!

As for your list, looks pretty good, I would suggest maybe looking at something else other than the Vindicators though, given their short range and amount of cover available, Dropping them and a few bits here and there (such as the multi meltas on the Tacs) could actually free up enough points to get 3 Thunderfire Cannons, and whilst very spammy will make up for the lack of Anti horde you currently have immensely! And plenty of Str 6 still has the capability to hurt those MEQs you may encounter, although they still do get their saves.

Hope this helps!

Not sure about that, I didn't really want to drop the Vindis as they are pretty versatile in that they can take down tanks as well as infantry, and they add more armour to my list which will be advancing forward keeping a large number of targets available. Anyone else think that I should drop the Vindicators or have any other comments?

As noted above, from competitive stand point, drop pods would be better than Rhinos in your list.
Combi-melta on your sarges would perhaps be better than MM,since the squads would be on the move.
Give the Sternguard a third melta instead of the HF, two will not guarantee you a dead vehicle.
You definitely need dozer blades on your Vindicators.

I would perhaps lose a MM in a squad, take a combi-melta instead and take less than 10 marines in order to shave off some pts for the necessary upgrades

Well its clear you like melta, so yeah drop pods put you into range nicely to sink tanks. However with all that melta maybe the vindicators are a bit unessercey Thunder fire cannons deal with infantry better than vindicators due to massive overdoses of blast templates.

I would say not to take the drop pods over the rhinos, taking pods means you're left to deploy speeders and vindies which you don't want to give the enemy more reason to target them.
Sternguard in a drop pod but I don't recommend putting your troops in them

Did you know? Every sunday from 12 to 5 pm you can get a carvery for £6.95 at the pudding and pye.

Taking some points on board, wanting to drop the MMs and HF and take a 3rd Combi on the Sternguard, not sure whether to take Combi Meltas on the Sergeants though, I really want to drop one of those tactical marine squads down and Try and sneak some more toys in there, maybe taking a cheaper Tac squad if i can, could maybe take a squad of 5 with a heavy weapon and a Thunderfire Cannon, or maybe a squad of scouts to sit back, seeing as all my troop choices want to advance. The scouts could also make better use of Bolster defenses with Camo Cloaks.

As for the drop pods, I'm not entirely convinced, I'd rather have target saturation as opposed to only half the army coming down turn 1 for all of the enemy's firepower to bear, but I could afford to playtest with each list and see which is better as I have a friend who owns some pods.

Thanks for all the comments so far! Some planned changes have been made because of the responses. New list included in first post.

Well I'll have to admit, even though I'm not a fan, the two scouts squads in speeders are growing on me; they fit in quite nicely with your others and I have seen some nice conversions with scouts wearing halo odst style helmets!
