Hi guys, here I want to present you an interesting trick to create ghost-versions of your models. I'll be adding pictures and whatnot as soon as I get more details myself.

Now, here's a trick a friend of mine discovered by accident. He made silicone moulds and injected the PU mixture with a syringe. Tutorials on that can be found on youtube. Now the interesting part: To get his injection syringe clean, he flushed it with water, which is usually a totally horrible idea when working with polyurethane because water makes it foam. Even tiny amounts of it result in large holes, bubles and a foamy structure, which is exactly what we want here. You mustn't use too much water here, merely tiny residue may remain in the syringe (or you'll get real foam) but when you get the concentration right, this will happen:

The cast models will still have have an almost full surface, so you still can pretty much see what model it is. There will be hollow parts or areas where bubbles have formed, see here:

The PU will remain solid though, so it's not soft like a sponge. However, due to the large holes, some of them going straight through the model but with smooth, rounded edges (red circles), the model will have the overall appearence of a half-meterialized ghost. Sometimes larger bubbles may form (green circle) but if you're going for ghosts, this doesn't distrupt the effect too much.

For anyone who wants to field an army of ghost-orks or whatver - this is a nice method to ghostify almost any model you can think of.

The PU mixture used was some generic Poly-Urethane compound you get at your hobby shop, home depot or whatever else is nearby.

The method will NOT work with epoxy-resins, so you need PU plaster. It's allways a two-component system with one part containing some sort of isocyanates and the other a polyalcohol, usually some sort of xyz-diol.

I'm not going to say what that looks like, I'll just say, if it's not on Its not on.

Well, it's an idea for aimed at fantasy players. Usually this would be considered a misscast but it has its uses.

I don't mean there's a problem with it, it's just the effect reminds me of a used condom.

I'm afraid we're going to have to lock this as there are all too often issues when dealing with recasting miniatures.

And , alas, that's really something of a hornets nest that isn't really worth poking.

Good luck with it though and thank you for the time, thought and effort.
