Right guys I need some advice please. I have just got back into 40k after a few years out. I have just started a custom Space Marine chapter which is going well if not a bit slowly (unlike most students I don't have much free time) and I want to have an allied IG force to go along with them.
I need some help with a couple of things, firstly I want to have a highly converted army with animals or beasts to replace things like bikers and land speeders, as well as sentinels, or models that aren't the standard (be they different converted GW models or models from other companies)!
I am also thinking about making my IG very ogryn/ogre heavy and am looking into potentially converting some fantasy ogres. Any ideas or alternative models for this as well would be awesome!
Because I am a student I really have to pick and choose projects which is why I am putting this out there to get the best ideas that I can and can then get working on!

Victoria miniatures has practically free shipping and is slightly cheaper than GW BUT with more variety and awesome models. Thats for guard though.
Scibor has 4 really cool nepolionic looking ogre guys with guns and such if you want a small squad of them. They also have giant bears and such, but its pricey. Models are epic though if you like marines. They are taller and well, more marine like.
Ummm thats the best alternates but they arent cheap. If you did the imperial guard only i could give many cheap sources but with marines and animals its harder.
Try converting toy store animal sets. (the ones that arent posable. Cant remember the brand name).

Victoria miniatures is only cheaper if you live in Australia. In Canada, they're 10$ more for boxes of 10 dudes. Or 7 pounds (13$) in you're in England

GW prices are all out whack in NZ/Aus, so when you compare prices, make sure you select the country of the OP.

I want to try and have scouts riding something, im not sure what yet, something like the ogre kingdom sabretusks, but i dont know if they would be big enough!
@Sawastakowey- I know its so hard to find beasts and stuff big enough to accomodate marines, if you have any ideas for IG that would be reli helpful!

Scibor ones are huge but they are too big for scouts. More for terminators. Are you all good using historical bristish pith helmet guys? If so look here, 25 in a box for really good price. Quality is ok but to get models on the table its worth it. For 10ish dollars you can get 100 bases from victoria miniatures (definately cheaper than GW) so those bases will last 4 boxes of these guys. http://www.wargamesfactory.com/webstore/war-of-empires/british-firing-line-zulu-war I use them as conscripts. http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?group=178 these warbears dont come with mounts, if you look through the sci fi you will find ones with mounts too. Or for mounts you can do the simple dark eldar cold one mounts.
