Nice to see an early video up Mark.

Not the best run out for them as facing Waveserpent Spam in Hammer and Anvil is pretty soul destroying at the best of time let alone with a new codex with little to no ranged firepower.

What actually happened to the venomthrops? I assume he just shot them with serpent shields then moved onto the rest of your army.

Even after getting smacked with the nerf bat I still think tervigons are a good buy, show how silly they were before. I'm not sure on the Swarmlord, I like his forcemultiplier abilities but he's hella expensive and will struggle to get to the enemy without Tyrantguard support which just adds to his cost :-/

IT was turn 3 things all whent wrong swamlord had to make 5 saves - i failed 4 (on a 3+) then the tervigon did the same. hive guard did not fair much better but it realy did take the bight out of my attack. felt like i need LOS blocker in middfield so i had a chance to get to the other side - i think tervigons have a place in the list but are far from auto take now - garg however are so good in the new dex there almost auto includes my list will ve something like 2x flyrants 30x termgaunts 1x tervigon a load of 20 man gaunt squads backed up with hive guard and biovors thats what im thinking at the moment

Besides blinding venom being nerfed what makes you auto include gargs?

Blinding venom now give your free poison so if you tack adrenal glands you now have for 8ppm jump infantry with fleet furious charge poison and blind that's a win in my book.

Wow that is the MOST boring eldar list I have seen in about 5 minutes.... Seriously, how is it fun to deploy 5 tanks and then play yahtzee?

Oh well, I would suggest next time playing with terrain lol. Literally NO BLOS terrain mid table makes 40k so mismatched based.

Yeah, the table was a bit bare. Having some stuff in the middle to block shooting would make the game a lot more interesting. It would certainly stop those serpents from just sniping you all game.

Thanks for the quick batrep! Looks like nid lists need some shooting to try and clear out dakka units. The Biovores and Hiveguard were good, but maybe a Flyrant or two and a Crone and an exocrine. Cuz just running full pelt across the board doesn't work(Surprise!). Sorry bout the lack of LOS, that's a rough match mate

If you consider that the enemy was running what most people consider to be one of the current strongest builds,
the deployment was the worst possible and that this was probably Mark kelly's first game using new codex I think it wasn't THAT bad.

Against mechdar you probably need mobility. Flyrants, Hive Crons (other?).
Sure they may not be as tough as a Screamerstar but it is unlikely that they all will get shot down in 1-2 turns of shooting.
Also not everyone uses Quad Guns.

I am very curious how your army handles codices such as DA, CSM, IG etc.

Yes, but it's poison 6+ instead of the toxin sac 4+ and you lose your bonus attack for charging if you use the blinding venom.

It's not terrible, but it's not that great either.

Question is, correct me if I'm wrong, won't the enemy have to make x number of blind checks, where x is the number of hits you score in combat?

True but with the new posion rules your still wound on 4's because you tack the best results its only worse vs T5+ and thats where blind will kick in

yep so they could be tacking 10/15 blind checks from a full squad

Blinding venom is only str3 though so its worse most of the time Mark.

Strange list from Cole, in that he usually doesnt have that many fire dragons or Warp spiders, I know he knew he was playing you and the new nids, seems strange though to have more then double FA and Elite then troops

Unfortunately my computer at work has no speakers so I can't hear what was said but that looks like a pretty nice nid list.

I am considering them myself once my eldar and csm armies are finished. No ideas what to include yet though.

As an Eldar player, I have to agree that list is pretty damn boring and min maxed, especially for a friendly game.

I have 3 wave serpents in my army and I have only ever fielded all of them once or twice. Also only one of mine has the scatter laser turret.

There is too much fun stuff in the eldar codex to spam the same units like that imo.

I disagree with all the complaining about the eldar list.
I am looking to see how the nids do in a tournament setting, and playing against swooping hawks and banshees will not give the new codex a true test. 3-4 serpents and warp spiders.... that is what you will be facing in a tournament.

I think Gargoyles are going to cause some confusion with their new blinding venom rule.

Adrenal Glands on Gargs grant Furious Charge, which puts you at S4 on the charge.
But Blinding Venom doesn't benefit from Furious Charge, it's explicitly at S3 (Poisoned[6+]). You also give up all your attacks to use it, so you lose your bonus attack for charging.
From what I remember of Poisoned, your S has to exceed the enemy T for the reroll to work? If so:

Against a T3 model:
S4 on the charge wounds on 3s.
S3 Poisoned(6+) wounds on 4s, with Poisoned granting a reroll.

Against a T4 model:
S4 on the charge wounds on 4s.
S3 Poisoned(6+) wounds on 5s no reroll.

Against a T5 model:
S4 on the charge wounds on 5s.
S3 Poisoned(6+) wounds on 6s. no reroll.

Against a T6 model:
S4 on the charge wounds on 6s.
S3 Poisoned(6+) wounds on 6s. no reroll.

Against T7
S4 on the charge wounds on 6s.
S3 would not normally be able to wound here, but Poisoned 6+ kicks in.

Against T8+
S4 on the charge can't wound.
S3 would not normally be able to wound here, but Poisoned 6+ kicks in.

So overall, it being poisoned 6+ only really works against T3 models, if my recollection of Poisoned is correct.
