Subject: Which space marine chapter?

Ive gone through all the business of researching space marine chapters but even now I don't know which to choose (I don't want to create my own yet) Is there any particular chapter my play style suits, I like big explosions and showing off and all those kind of things so that kind of takes raven guard of my list but, who else is there (apart from smurfs and dark angels and blood angels and grey knights)?
Note: This thread is now closed. I created my own chapter the cunning foxes in the end.

Maybe white scars? Or imperial fists are pretty good. I forget the name of them the iron hands? I'm partial to the imperial fists cause of the bolter drill that lets you reroll 1s I think, and Lysander is a beast. Salamanders are interesting if you wanna roast stuff up.

There's also the Forge World chapter tactics, available from their website. Some of those are pretty fun - Mantis Warriors are good at guerilla tactics and ambushes, Carcharodons like to mix it up in melee, and so forth.

I also suggest Salamanders if you like to burn thangs.
You really should look in to making your own chapter, I just did it myself and it is actually really fun, and that way you can tailor it to how you want it exactly. I also learned alot more about the fluff while exploring options for my chapter.

I would second Imperial Fists, or Crimson Fists if ur like me and cant paint yellow. Tank Hunters means their Devastators are great, and nothing causes big ass explosions like Devastators.

There is only the Emperor! He is our shield and protector.

Wondering Why the Emperor Left

My favourite Chapter by far is the Minotaurs, they're like the personal executioners of the High Lord of Terra and completely ruthless but because of the crazy favouritism they have tons of ancient heresy-era relics and other such awesome stuff that usually you'd have to justify a chapter having. They also have a really badass chapter master, exposed to hard vacuum something like five times and survived, has custodes-esque equipment and feared by every other chapter in the galaxy because the Minotaurs are infamous for butchering renegade chapters. It's nice to have that fluff justification for the usually handwave-y matchups between loyalist chapters.
For me they basically combine great fluff with sheer awesomeness in a way that none of the other chapters can match.

Currently not in posession of any armies - I merely theorycraft and discuss background,
Waiting for HH Book 6 so I can start an Imperial Army army. |

Do you want a 1st founding chapter or a later founding chapter?
That should be the first question to answer.
Also, choose Iron Hands.

The only Space Marines whose Chapter Tactics affect vehicles (source of the big boom?) is Iron Hands. Their rules are pretty solid, so I recommend them.
If you want big explosions, have you considered Imperial Guard? They are decent, have great vehicle dakka, and are rumored for a nex codex in a couple of months.

Red Scorpions, Carcharodons, Raptors, Exorcists, Mantis Warriors, Executioners, Angels Revanant, Red Hunters, Star Phantoms, Minotaurs, Fire Hawks and Astral Claws all have their own chapter tactics. Some of them are pretty good depending on your play style. Before you begin a new army, check these out as well. Its free!
