Hello people of Dakka

I am trying to create some terrain for what will eventually be a Japanese village for Ospreys Ronin.

The problem is I have never built any terrain before. My budget atm is close to non existant so I am trying to make it out of scavenged material like card board rather than purchasing terrain.

Do you have any tips or tutorials on creating terrain, Japanese terrain in particular but generic tips would help also. Also images of scratch built Japanese stuff that you or others have built would be a great help.

I have found a few tutorials like these
http://muraminiatures.com/making-a-28mm-japanese-house-with-interiors.html
http://muraminiatures.com/making-a-simple-28mm-japanese-house.html

I am also taking inspiration from other companies that sell terrain such as

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Their are some paper models online that have things like Torii and simple buildings.
Google search should help you find several sites.

Matakishi's Tea House has some good stuff on making buildings.

If you get used to basic techniques with cheap materials like cork board, wooden dowels and cardboard, you can apply them to nearly any design of building. Then just look up stuff on different types of buildings that you want to make.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
