Subject: Clarification from stronghold assault?

Just got my grubby orky klaws on Stronghold assault. soo much potential...
A question though. Under the old BRB fortification rules the fortifications were somewhat ambivilent as to whether they were considered friendly models for various effect or neutral. They were referred to as friendly fortifications in places, and as models in others.
under stronghold assault whoever is occupying the fortification now counts it a part of their force. Would this make the fortification a friendly model?
The fortifications are referred to as models several times. I realise they are terrain/scenery, but do they also count as models for effect that would affect a friendly or enemy model, such as vengeance weapons targetting the nearest enemy model or a KFF affecting nearby models?
I am wiped out from a long tournament, and away from my BRB at the moment, so it's possible the grey matter isn't tracking properly right now..

I can't see anywhere that refers to a building as a model. Could you give a page number with an example?

Destroyer weapons table on pg 18
Clipped. (vehicle or building)
The model takes a penetrating hit.
Under Buildings in Battle Pg 21
'In many respects these buildings function like any other unit in a player's army' - This would seem to indicate that GW intends them to be units otherwise the phraseology would be 'in many respects these buildings would function like a unit in the player's army'
Bastion Pg 32 - access points and fire points - as per model
Wall of martyrs bunker - pg 42 - ditto
Firestorm redoubt pg 44 - ditto
FOR - pg 57 Ditto
Aquila strongpoint - pg 59 ditto
Vortex aquila - pg 61 ditto.
The rules allow you to shoot at or charge a building as if it were a vehicle, but both actions need an enemy unit to do this to. By following this chain buildings must therefore be friendly units for the other side otherwise buildings cannot be targetted within the rules.
Unoccupied, unclaimed buildings cannot fire, and are not assaultable or shootable, which seems to bear this out, as only enemy units are assaultable or shootable, or cold shoot an enemy unit.
let me know if anything i've listed is incorrect, and why. I'm still exhausted from last nights tournament, so i might be missing something.

Buildings always had 'pseudo-model' status thanks to Rules telling us that Buildings 'count as' Enemy/Friendly Vehicles, which are models, in certain situations. It was only out side of these situations did questions get raised; such as what happens if a Blast marker falls over top of an unoccupied building. It was also impossible to even target unoccupied directly, because the rules clearly stated that they need to be occupied in order to be a legal target, which led to further 'of course I would target their fortification, occupied or not, so why shouldn't I be able to?' questions. The new rules released where designed to address this problem and nothing more. They did so not by giving Buildings all the things required to be models in their own right but by giving us rules that make Buildings 'count as' friendly/enemy models in more situations.

That would be "as per model" as in "as per the physical miniature".
I assume there are no references other than "as per model"?

Other than the one that says the model takes a penetrating hit, referring to both buildings and to vehicles?

I would need to review the book again to see the exact wording, I've started doing most of my responses from work where such material is not allowed, but the use of the word 'model' in relation to D-weapons does not surprise me. These new rules have a method to figure out if a Building 'counts as' a friendly or enemy model, which is something that will always come into play with Blast Markers. Therefore having a rule refer to the building as a model within the same book explaining how to determine if it is a friendly/enemy model makes a little bit of sense. The existence of rules granting permission to attack Buildings is still the strongest evidence of their non-model status; they would already fall under the general rules for attacking models and therefore do not need entire pages dedicated to how and when we go about attacking them. There is still a big oversight in the rules as far as I am concerned: Buildings deployed as terrain, which have never been occupied by either side, still doesn't fall under the 'count as friendly/enemy Rules!' I so want to be able to demolish a building an opponent puts down as terrain, knowing very well they intend to use that building as a forward bunker for weaker models.
