Looking to pick up strip styrene (not sure if I spelled it correctly) for use as handles for axes, staves, custom swords. Also need to figure out tube stock to make a piston type leg or power armor and terminator armor. Figure I needed a small plastic tube and a rod to make it. Would like to experiment and make some bionics, too. I figured I'd ask here having seen so many good pieces of work in these threads and the gallery. If there are other good pieces of styrene in general please let me know what to buy and what their suggested use is. Thanks

I would definitely recommend taking a trip to your local Hobby Lobby or Model Train Store. They usually have a full display of either Evergreen or Plastruct styrene. I find it easier to actually see the items in my hand. Take a model with you for a sense of scale as well.

You will probably want a variety of sizes. Polystyrene rods and so on are not expensive.

Ok the nearest hobby store is in the town over. The hard part is they don't restock their display unless you ask for specific sizes. So its gonna be hit and miss going over there. Suggestions appreciated, thanks guys.

I suggest you make some estimate of how thick you want your axe handles and pistons -- e.g. 1mm or 2mm, etc. -- and pick the tubing to match.

Piano wire might be a better choice for thin weapon handles as it is much stronger.

Oh thanks, didn't know about Piano wire. I knew about guitar string, but not that one. Thanks again.
