Heard some talk about how Nids can't take ADL or fire the gun emplacement on fortifications and was just curious where people are getting this from?
Both the BRB and the FAQ have nothing in it that says as much as far as I've been able to find. Perhaps someone could shed light on if this is true or false?

"They are in front of us, behind us, and we are flanked on both sides by an enemy that outnumbers us 29:1. They can't get away from us now!"

Nothign stops them buying an Aegis.

There was an FAQ that prevented the use of the guns however. No idea if that will carry on to a FAQ for new Codex though..

What part of the FAQ? The only thing related that I'm finding is:
"Page 105 – Battlefield Debris, Gun Emplacement
Change the first sentence of the second paragraph to “One
non-vehicle model in base contact with the gun
emplacement can fire it instead of his own weapon,
following the normal rules for shooting. Note that the model
counts as stationary for these purposes”.

"They are in front of us, behind us, and we are flanked on both sides by an enemy that outnumbers us 29:1. They can't get away from us now!"

The Tyranid FAQ, not the rulebook

Q: Are Tyranid units inside buildings (i.e. the Bastion) subject to instinctive behaviour tests? Furthermore, are they able to manual fire emplaced weapons or weapon emplacements?
A: No to both questions.

Yes it's out of date.
However nothing has changed as far as GWs ideas of how the army works (evidenced by lack of any fortification rules in the Nid book) so I personally expect that same Q/A to come back.

Judging by the progress GW has made on FAQs as of late, I'd say bugs will be able to shoot emplaced weapons/weapon emplacements for the foreseeable future.

but until it does the faq is out of date and irrelevant, and unimportant, GW themselves state that the most upto date faqs and codexes are the onlything that matters so since the codex is upto date and the faq is not the faq is irrelevant.

all this RAI is crap we do notknow the intentions of the developers we should work with RAW and =#RAW is all that matters

And if people want to argue that those FAQ's are still valid as they are still up, then we still have access to biomancy, and still benefit from the special rules of all close combat weapons

To paraphrase Leonidas, "If they argue you can't use the ADL, all of the Hive Fleets go to war. Pray they're that stupid, pray we're that lucky"

The question you have to ask yourself is that while you probably can fire it now, seeing that nothing has really changed do you really want to add one to your list at this moment or would it be wiser to wait until a FAQ clears it up?

If it means I can place an ADL as far forward to offer some cover on the way to the enemy and at least out the option of a Quadgun to have some anti air?
Yes
