Have I missed something obvious here?
From how I read the new codex, you may have a hive tyrant with wings and still have a 2 pairs or sything talons as the wings don't replace the talons and are simply an addition. However they mount in the arm sockets just like the talons.....
What I'm asking is can a hive tyrant have six arms??
Weigh in with your interpretations please people.

Cheers, good to see I'm not the only one that thinks that.

That way,then left

Tyranid all have 6 limbs.
On the latest Hive tyrant kit the legs end with talons instead of the regular tyranid hooves, so they could count as one of the scything talons pairs

GW messed up the model. The 5th edition codex never said the wings replaced anything.

I know I altered my flying hive tyrant by cutting the second back chimneys out, carving out the back a bit, pinning the wings in place and then filling and shaping the hole to look a bit more like tissue and tendons. Took a bit of effort, and even more to make the two twin linked devourer arm sets. But I really like how it came out.

Even though it could upset the 'what you see is what you get' crowd: The available options in the book are far more important then if you can physically place them onto the model. Your entry states you have 2 pair of slashing talons and nothing preventing you from taking them with wings. The physical limitation of the model should not be enough to deny you permission to use what would be a legal combination from the book!

Besides, if your opponent does protest on the grounds of 'what you see is what you get' what is to stop them from stating 'modeling for advantage' if you turned up with a converted model?

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

I thought that's why they had Scythes on their feet...

Fair enough, this wasn't the best example to use for that point....

You can always model their wings with big claws on the end or bony sharp edges to represent the scything talons. It's still their arms, just with webbing.

Sything talons was just an example here. I was more interested in giving a winged tyrant 2 different firearms (or firearms and CC weapons). Hence the "how do I give the creature wings and still maintain the weapons?"
The conversion ideas stated sound like the clever and good ideas.
Seeing as I'm yet to buy the kit, I have no idea how I will fit the wings for myself.
Thanks for the clarification and ideas everyone.

Perfectly fine and great for people like myself who converted a flyrant long before the offical model existed. Much prefer my 4th edition 'alien queen head' flyrant with Balrog wings, it's unique.

It's a shame you don't have a picture in your gallery for it, it's sounds cool.
