Thought I would put up my 2000pt Whitescar list for comments.

Kor'sorro Khan 150
Moondrakkan Moonfang

Librarian 140
Bike, +1 Mastery, Force Stave, Combi-Grav, Auspex, Digital Weapons

Command Squad 390
5x Stormshields, 5x Meltabombs, 5x Grav-guns, 5x Powerlances, bikes, Companystandard
Apothecary upgrade
Company Champion upgrade

Bike Squad 220
Vet Sgt, Power Lance, Meltabombs
2x Bikers with Grav-guns
Attack Bike with Multi-Melta
2x Bikers

5 Bike Squads as above 1100

Total 2000pts

I know it is short of AA but my local club players don't field a lot of flyers.
I usually take a couple of Stormtalons with me and if my opponent wants to play his flyers I will drop the requisite bike squads to fit the points.

Command squad can't take grav guns power lances and storm shields only two one on each arm, you ll have to choose personally i d go for either power lances and bolt pistol for the extra attack or grav guns and storm shields for tough shooting

I have looked at the RAW repeatedly and can't see anywhere restrictions to equipping the veterans with those 3 choices.
I have all of my veterans with holstered Gravguns and some with front of handlebar slung stormshields, others with Stormshields on their arms.
My only question has been the Company Champion, everyone I have played so far accepts that he doesn't bother to take lesser weapons when he upgrades so the free power weapon and combat shield he leaves in the armoury and uses his trusty 25pts powerlance and stormshield.
If you can show me the rules that state I cant equip my squads like this I would appreciate it as so far IO have equipped 3 of my 6 command squads in this manner. I will not rearm the other squads for a while.

I think you can equip your command squad like that. But I don't think you should. That squad is massively expensive and really does not have the resilience it needs to support such a cost.

Pick 1 role for the unit, (CC or shooting) and stick with that. Pretty much everyone agrees shooting is where it's at in 6th ed so I would personally drop the power-lances and reduce the number of storm shields to 2. That would free up 105pts...

^^^ Yes that is a rediculously expensive unit and you can almost get 2 squads of command squad bikers if you run them just as x5 bikes, grav guns and an apothecary which is all you need.

anything else is overkill

where does the world land on the 5x grav guns on CCS... I see arguments in both directions on if it is allowed or not.

- 4500pts: Shinzon Dynasty
3000pts: Hive Fleet Empusa
- 3000pts Rampagers

I think x5 is not allowed as an apothecary is not a vetran.

However I again think its FAR too expensive to provide x5 grav guns to a unit with and apoth in the first place.

I know their too high point cost.... but, they look cool!
Also their my heavy armoured horse to the rest of my light cavalry!
I suppose I should drop the gravguns but, against terminators the power lance isn't too good that's why they need gravguns.
A thought, can you throw melta bombs in 6th like grenades?
Can you use a meltabomb against a terminator? Never seen it done.
Would be good, 5 meltabombs against a 5 man terminator squad.

No, melta bomba cant be used vs infintry, including termies. only mcs and tanks.

Drop the storm sheilds and lances, keep the grav guns. They look badass enough for a command squad even if they arnt actually using the lances and storm sheilds.

I wonder why GW don't allow meltabombs against big badass terminators, when you think about it if you had an AT mine or even a satchel charge and some crazy heavily armoured freak was threatening you you would pull the cord and chuck it, even just to let you run away faster !

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty convinced bother the potheads and the champion can't take upgrades? In fact I KNOW the apothecary can't, I'm just not sure about the champion. So the squads illegal anyway. And a massive point sink!

I am curious how you "know" the Apothecary cannot be equipped as my squad.
RAW....
Command Squad .........
Unit Composition.......5 Veterans
......any veteran may take any of the following......Melta Bombs.......Storm Shield
......any veteran may take items from the Melee Weapons, and/or Ranged Weapons, and/or Special Weapons lists
......one veteran may be upgraded to an Apothecary, taking a narthecium
......one veteran may be upgraded to a Company Champion

at no stage do these options say replace, GW would have used this phrase (as used in many other cases), or FAQ'ed it if the above was contrary to their plans.

I can see the problem with the Company Champion, who after replacing his melee weapon with a power lance and purchasing a storm shield, now has 2 shields, I am now going to put a small "buckler" type shield on his other arm to indicate his combat shield.

I agree the unit is not worth the point cost, but, as a marine you are used to paying too many points for overpriced units and I like to play with my toy soldiers

It's quite simple actually. A veteran can take options. A veteran can also be upgraded to an apothecary. An apothecary is no longer a veteran. Hence an apothecary can't take upgrades. It's really not that hard.

A veteran can't not be a veteran, you can't forget your experience, a promotion will not change you.
If an Apothecary is not a veteran he can't be in a command squad......"
Please show me in RAW or FAQ where a veteran loses this status on promotion.
Are they mindwiped?

Fluff has absolutely nothing to do with it. And if it did, you would realise that attached apothecaries do not come from original veterans.

None the less, an apothecary is not a vet, he's an apothecary. Therefor they can't take options.

Hey, stick to your guns and keep those choices if you want, if your friends allow it then that's all that matters. A tournament wouldn't.

Thanks,
I was really looking for some "word of God" on the question, I am amazed that GW has not answered this in a FAQ.
As you will probably realise I am a Campeign player not a Tournament player.... last time I played at WHW at a campaign weekend I fielded the Khans (Jaghetai & Kor'sorro) in my pre-heresy army (all jetbike), with every sergeant having a servoarm. (Tempus Fugatives rules)!

Haha! Sounds cool! It does need an FAQ, as does so much! But if you don't tournament play then all that matters is your opponents! As long as they accept it then why the hell not!

Sometimes some people seem set on sapping the fun out of the game! That's the whole point of it though, fun!

I still think the points are better spent elsewhere! But if you're happy then go make some riptides cry!

I would run two command squads, add one captain, one with just power lances and one with just grav guns, that way you get lots of bodies, extra attacks with the power lance and pistol. And grav guns for mcs av14 etc

Pretty sure the apothecary is covered in the f.a.q.he replaces a vet so can't take any of the options. as for the special weapons + power weapons it is legal if you read how the squads written. the power weapon replaces a weapon while the special weapon is added without the loss of a weapon.
