The terrible mess that is the new tyranid codex put me off my nid army. I've decided to reinvigorate my dark eldar with some eldar allies. I ordered 3x wave serpents, a wraith knight, and a box of wraithguard. I'd like to get some thoughts on this list.

2 troops max from allied detachment. Looking good so far though. I would be tempted to take some more beasts or perhaps shining spears. If you add another venom and warriors you should have enough points for other stuff. You could also take 3 vypers and stick Lances back on that other ravager.

Oops, my mistake, the wraithguard are elites. "Troops" is a typo.

I can't say a ton for the wraithknight, so I'll leave that alone (don't use one with my DE/Eldar).

I'd recommend DL instead of disintegrators on the one ravager.

Seems a bit light on the dark eldar, but no arguing with the wave serpents. I tend to leave the holofields at home with my DE, but that's mainly because I have so many venoms/raiders/ravagers and they are easier to pop... so people focus more on them. Since you're light in that department with only two venoms, the holofields may be a good buy in this army.
Suggest getting at least a blaster in there for each of the kabalite squads, recommend switching out one of the guardians for dire avengers and dropping the shock prow to get the points.

Other than that, I assume that the beastmaster squad includes 4 beastmasters (points work out). I personlly go with less (3 masters/5 khymerae/4 razorwing) just because they're more manageable on the field.

Where does the farseer go? I think he'd be ideal with the beastmasters, but will suffer from slow-man-syndrome without a bike.

Looks reasonably solid all around.

There are three kinds of people in this world. Those than can do math... and those that can't.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've tweaked the list, so please tell me if you think it's been improved. If you have any suggestions please don't hesitate. I think the wraithknight is better with the sun cannon, so giving that upgrade allowed me to shift the dissie ravager back to DL's. Also, They call me Griff, you are right about the beast unit; it has a huge footprint, so making it smaller and more manoeuvrable helps. I've put the far seer on a jet bike so he can keep pace with them now (rather than with the wraithguard).

Tough Tyrant Guard

way to order the op stuff from the best army atm to remedy your faith in the game, 3 wave serpents and a wraithknight plus the 2++ rerollable combo. someone is powergaming.

for optimum power you need holofields on wave serpents. If you can find the points it would bring it up a level.
perhaps exchange the wraithguards for fire dragons or something.

then its a list to beat tau/dar

My intention: I want any army I build to have a reasonable chance of competing against any army, including nasty tournament lists without my list itself being unfair or broken.

I think this army achieves my aim.

I don't know where the bad wraithknight touched you, but I'm sorry you have been scarred. Lol?

Couple of things:

Allies is a key element in 6th. Tyranids are the only army that lacks the privilege and the new book failed to address this imbalance. Since I only play nids and DE, and DE have only one battle brother. Well...it not rocket science. Regardless of competitiveness, Eldar is the only choice.

You think waveserpents signify powergaming? Sheesh...they are great, but they are a basic transport and without holofields. How about guardian jetbikes? Can I take those or do they make me a powergamer too? You also said "the" 2++ re-rollable like my 156 point beast master unit is feared across the galaxy. You know that the really problematic 2++ are seer councils, grimoire daemons, etc. Baron scares you? Here's a tip: don't shoot at him.

A 300 point wraith knight is power-gaming? Oh please...

I'll tell you simply that I don't believe this is a power gamer list by my standards or further, by standards shared by most players who enjoy competition.

On topic: The reason I'm going wraithguard over fire-dragons is that a prefer plastic over finecast. That's it. How very power gamey of me, right?
