I'm interested in making a corsair army but not sure how well they are holding up currently. In sixth edition. Would love to see the opinions of others on making a corsair army.

P.s. I like the idea of jet pack troops o/

Their FAQ isn't out yet, so they are a bit iffy.

HQ: Bad. Neural flamer thingy is good on the Void Dreamer, but they are expensive and ineffective compared to any 5th or 6th edition codex.
Avoid the bodyguard for the Prince. Guardians with +1A that cost closer to a Terminator than a Guardian? No thanks.

Troop: Decent. Not to the level of Guardians, they are same cost but lacking one important special rule. Still good and the fact that they apparently use codex weapons, you can get Assault 3 flash lights on them.

Dedicated Transports: Decent. The Falcon is a nice DT, much more balanced compared to the Wave Serpent and a lot more interesting as a concept. Just try to convince your opponent that you should be allowed to purchase vehicle upgrades from Codex: Eldar.

Elites: Decent. Since Codex Eldar has some great elites, this means this section is great. Avoid Corsair's own Elites, though, they are bad even by 5th edition standards. You can't take more than one, though.

Fast Attack: Good. Again, try to convince your opponent that anything in Codex: Eldar with the same name overrules stuff in IA11. The Nightwing is awesome, though. Still one of the cheapest ways to get Bright Lances on the table and possibly even better as air superiority fighter than their Craftworld counter-part. Keep in mind that with Aeronautica (or whatever the book is called) they gained a special rule that affords them +1 cover when evading for a grand total of 2+ cover while evading.

Heavy Support: Great. Warp Hunter is still one of the best tanks you can have. Keep in mind that this thing isn't using Codex D-Cannon and never has! It's longer ranged with larger blast! The Phoenix Bomber is decent. Too pricy in my opinion unless you get head note that you need to design a list against Dark Eldar - in which case they are overpowered like hell once you upgrade the missile pods.

Remember, though, that these aren't Craftworlders! They don't have Battle Focus, and neither do Dark Eldar!

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

I have a Corsair army, but I can't really answer your question. Since the Eldar codex dropped I've mostly played them instead.
Now that Eldar have Battle Focus and bs4 all over it's hard to justify playing Corsairs.
Forgeworld hasn't really updated them for 6th / new Eldar codex, so they hurt a little in comparison.

The good:

Fun to play troops. Jetpack troops are cool, and lasblasters are pretty useful with 3 shots nowadays on 24". You can take 2 speacials and 2 heavies in a 10 man unit.
Very cheap to run 5 man troops with one special/heavy, cheap objective holders who can contribute from long range.
Hornets are cool, good and fun to play.
The Nightwing flyer is good.
The Corsair Prince can let upto 3 units deep strike. When you consider that you can add in one Eldar unit as part of the Corsair list in theit elite slot, this gives a lot of possiblities.
All the models are pretty cool, both the vehicles and the infantry.

The bad, compared to Eldar:

Jetbikes are (too) expensive.
Their WarWalker version is slightly inferior to Eldar, although fun to play.
No psychic support to speak of.
Not a lot of variety in the elite / hq / fast slots, all the non troop infantry is meh. Useful for deepstiking melta only IMO (see Prince)
The Warp Hunter used to be really strong, but got nerfed hard and made more expensive. These guys used to win the games for you, right now I don't think they are worth their points.

They are attractive as allies for Eldar and Dark Eldar, they add fun troops and the Prince is a sneaky hq with the deep strike and nightfighting tricks.
For some Eldar lists I lack room in the Fast Attack slot, allying in Corsairs fixes this as they have a cheap flyer and could take Warpspiders or Swooping Hawks as their elite choice.

Heh, pretty similar apart from the Warp Hunter. I've only evaluated them on paper and dismiissed them. Are you using the updated rules?

Alright, thank you both! Guess will wait till they are updated. For some reason I had thought they were so was thinking of jetpack battlefocus troops. Screams uber mobile in my head but guess it isn't viable just yet!

I think they hold up descent. And I think they are very cool. If you want to: Go for it.

The reasons you might not want to is that as long as you are playing with FW there is nothing in the codex that can not be run by a regular eldar codex with the exeption of the jump infanteri. On the pluss side the codex got a huge boost when all the shuricens became rending.

They where so cool, i was about to collect them because they where how i perceived real eldar. Fast, agile and hit and run style fighting. But then i read the new eldar codex and saw battle focus and how the troops had decent stats and so forth. So i have stuck with them. but if corsairs get battle focus and keep there jetpacks and so forth, ill be selling my eldar army to get them.

I love speed and mobility and the corsairs really captured that (and to an extent still do) so if they get updated id say sure go for it! But rules wise i think the current eldar codex about nails it. Remember you can collect them and still use them for normal eldar unil further notice...
