Subject: Nid thorax weapons?

I've read several people say that thorax weapons are an additional attack profile that can always be used in addition to other things a MC could fire.
So a harpy for example could fire its cannon, its frag spines, and a thorax weapon in addition.
I can't seem to find anything to indicate the Thorax weapon fires in addition to the creatures other weapons.
Am I overlooking a rule, or is the thorax weapon not "in addition to" the models other weapons?

That was a 5th edition codex rule and no longer applies.

Ahh ok. I'ld been reading it in the new codex discussions, but folks are probably just remembering the old rule and thinking its still in the new book. Thanks.

Yes, a strange change in the rule. Actually makes a tyrannofex's shooting phase a bit worse at very short ranges. I cannot imagine anyone thought those weapons were overpowered.

The new ones are actually rather good. Electroshook grubs for example are now both s5 ap5 and haywire, so good against about everything.

On a side note, can you fire overwatch with 2 flamers on one MC? (Or two weapons for that matter.)

Either you consider that overwatch works just like shooting in the shooting phase and they have the allowance to shoot 2 weapons or you consider it different and then the "only one weapon" normal restriction can't apply. Either way shoot away. Except the tyranofex though, a tyranid MC can only have 2 flamers by getting the miasma cannon bio-artifact.
