Video's still processing for me, so I'll watch it in a bit.

Predictions are... you've certainly got a hell of a chance. That Eldau list lacks long-ranged punch (sans the Wraithknight and Riptide), so you can get in close and do some damage.

Tip of my hat for having the first Tyranids batrep under the new rules. I am eagerly waiting to see the video.

Ah it took forever to process, its up now. I think we'll put up quite a few of these, I learned a lot about the new dex in this first battle.

Hive mind beats some Taudar? The internet will explode, they know the new codex to be the end of the bugs!.

It is certainly nice to see someone having fun with the new stuff. The people who are objective about the new tyranids seem to think they have good options to use.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

Your initial deployment and moves did have me worried at the start, it looked a bit disordered - but the ends seem to have justified the means. I think the Crone needed to be back further, but the Outflanking Termagants were positioned nicely.

I have found that putting my Venomthropes out of LOS is the only reliable way to keep them alive, as they generally become the #1 target by turn 2 at the latest. Something to consider? And my curiosity is piqued regarding the deathspitters on the Carnifexes - why not the devourers? All in all, a nice report and thanks for putting it up, with painted armies to boot! Cheers,

Oh yes, you will see alot more of this. But, why kill the Crone, when the Hive Tyrant is so much more a target, also she was targetting gargoyles before she realized that Venoms were a higher value target. The first shots should have killed the Venoms, then the zoanthropes. Leaving just the HT and Terv for synapse.

Lets face it, that was a nice fun game to play, but no where near how a game where tactics are used would be. Nids will win for a bit, until the meta shifts and tactics adjust. Then they will fall out of contention very quickly.

Great video! Thanks for sharing! I think a bastion for your venomthropes and zoie will help keep them alive for a while, you can also position thew crone behind it and with the venomthropes shroud have a great cover save until that C hunter arrives

The Venomthropes were out of LOS. This was her second game with the Riptide (She just started Tau) and what happened off camera was after she had begun shooting I reminded her 'You know your Riptide has homing, right?" At which point she said 'Oh feth' and killed them both with Ripple fire from it since she had already Nova charged it. I not only need to keep them out of LOS but also away from such weapons next game. And its worth noting, we rolled a D6 for total terrain, and that was a 'best case' scenario with 6 pieces added to the board.

Deathspitters were applied for points, thats all. The one with Spitters and no regen was kept out front, I know against her I always encounter soft bodies before heavy army. I mentioned it being very hard to make a list, and that was because my old way of thinking was hard to get rid of...essential things do not seem as essential after this game. I genuinely think I may be better off without a Tervigon in this list, and believe it or not I actually think Swarmlord and Warriors may have a place in 'competitive' lists. Point will definitely be spent differently in the future.

And I also want to say I love the Deathleaper, I'll definitely be picking one of those or a Lictor up. I misused him this game, but using him to bring in Trygon, or a large deepstriking Gargoyle brood, or simply for the huge nerf to the enemy HQ coupled with buffs from the Swarmlord to reserves could make for a very fun and flexible army.

The Crone has the range and probably chance of wailing on the CH when it came in, whereas she knew the Tyrant wouldnt go near the deployment zone any time soon, so I too would protect that asset in the sky. An Exarch in a CH with Brightlances is going to be putting 4 wounds on every big bug I have pretty consistently. The Crone was felled pretty quickly, in the future she either has to stay back or deep strike.

And a Haruspex as well, they were both done in a day...although I have no idea when Ill use the 'Spex because its not a very impressive unit.

^ No, I think they are doing the Escalation tournament this weekend which I have zero interest in, but I think Ill be going there to play. We have only ever gone to the Bowie bunker so you probably know more than we do about the scene.

Are you only wanting to do tournaments? Usually you can get a pickup game any day of the week down there around 3-4 in the afternoon, and of course all day Saturdays.
