So I'm getting back into 40k after an 8 month hiatus. I really want to jump back into competitive play but don't know which army I want to play.

1) I've always liked the idea of really shooty armies (Played Necron Flyer Spam before the break)
2)I have always wanted to play a SM bike army.

So the question is what should I play?

I really like the idea of TauDar since they both have a new 'Dex out.
Space Marines having a new dex means I could play the bikes now, but other fun lists as well.

They both offer so much!

If you guys don't mind could someone throw some basic lists for both so I can kind of get a look at what they both look like. ALSO, any pros or cons, strengths and weaknesses to both.

You should play with an army that you like more for what they are. You say you love the bikes and SM, but like the idea of a shooty army. SM can be shooty too. I personally choose armies for what I like about them, rather than how they will play.

Make up your own goddamn mind!

I'm getting tired of people asking other people to choose an army for them. Its a personal choice and if you let other people decide for you then you will probably end up dissapointed.

@changer: I'm not asking someone to pick for me. I'm simply putting options out there t see what people say. Hopefully that generates discussion about different armies and allows me to see things I didn't before. I put TauDar and SM Bikes because currently those are my top 2 choices that I've made for myself. This post is intended to get outside opinions, not for someone to make a decision for me.

Why do you need to get lists when there are thousands of the same cookie cutter lists out there.

@Feasible: I don't want a cookie cutter list. I asked for basic lists so I would know where to start building my own list.
