Howdy all, having read the disappointment of a new codex I've been trying to piece something together that I can play with. I'm not aiming to be competitive but I'd like some opinions on what people think.

Haruspex is truly woeful drop it.

Harpy is inferior to the Hive Crone take that instead. Though with spare HQ slots still open Dakka Flyrant should always be taken before either of the other FMCs.

I would take Carnifexes or Exocrines over the Trygon Prime.

Though 7 MCs at 1500 will give most people real problems.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

Howdy, thanks for the input.

I did consider a second Flyrant but felt that two targets would be better than 1 so opted for the Harpys. My reasoning was that with the first Flyrant, 4 Zoans and 2 Tyrannos I'd have enough ranged AT so some AI fire would be a good addition. I know Harpy's aren't exactly the best but I don't have the spare points for Crones. The Trygon is there to add to my synapse web more than anything. I could swap out the Haruspex for a Crone but them I'd rather have another large beast on the ground that my Tyranno's can take cover behind. XD I'll consider the possibilities at work today.

But the Tyrant is better AI as well as AT than 2 Harpies. He puts on average 11 S6 hits on a unit. The Harpies will get what 3-4 each tops? I know they have the Spore Mine thing too but still they are just underwhelming in the extreme.

Also having Harpies on the board rather than a second Flyrant gives your opponent a really easy targetting choice. Also the reason you take Fly rants before the other FMCs is the armour save. Almost every AA option you regularly see is Ap4 and large chunk of it is also S7 meaning each hit removes a wound from the Harpy/Crone on a 2+ with no save for you.

As for the Haruspex it is 160 points and the Trygon Prime is 230. If you dropped them both you'd be able to afford 3 Carnifexes. Make the change above (HT for 2 Harpies) and you can make them Dakkafexes.

You have no troops. Seriously, you really have no troops. 10 hormogaunts fall over to a stiff breeze. How do you win any game apart from tabling your opponent? Most games are objective games and you will just plain suffer - 100 pts on troops is just going to leave you with a bad taste at the end of the game.

Man, at first I was like "Wow, how did he fit all that in there!?" Then I noticed you only have 20 gaunts for troops

Here's my attempt at a fix, keeping the list as close as possible to what you have now. I just drop the Haruspex and 1 Zoanthrope, and change another Zoanthrope to a Venomthrope, to get the points for better troops.

agreed with so many missions objective based, there are far too few troops here. If you were Gray knight or SM where you could combat squad maybe... I want the hasparex to be good - if he was classified as a beast he could move across the field more efficiently, without he is too slow and will get gakked way to quickly...
