Neophyte undergoing Ritual of Detestation

My friend introduced me to the game he has orks but now might get tau empire. we will probably play together anyway i am interested in grey knights and will probably get them but i do not know what figures i should get army wise (not really competitive still would like to win though). don't really know what purifiers or paladins so could someone explain that as well. I understand the main concept of the game but that is it also can someone tell me how many points each figure is worth in points.(complete newbie to the game).

You need to get a grey knight codex to learns the specifics about each model point costs, etc. see if you can find one to borrow for a couple of days, or check eBay to save cost.

Check out the articles section of dakka to find grey knight specific information, they probably have some good stuff ther.

Good luck,

Games workshop stores have public copies of the codexes that you can look through to see what everything is worth. They will also help explain to you what role everything plays. Forum rules prevent us from posting direct quotes from the books or exact points values.

If you're just looking for a good list to get simply do a search for "grey knights" in this army list forum section and browse through what pops up. You'll be able to get people's opinions on most of the units just from old stuff that's been posted as well.
