So, I was just curious, I realy like the Grey Knight models and back when I was starting 40k their codex was just comming otu and I considerd getting them for the models, But after reading about them I saw everyone say they where horribly boring to play against and realy over powerd, So I went with Tau instead. They where very weak and I couldent win a single match, But I liked their models and fluff^^ Tme went on and I started Space Wolves and Necrons aswell. but now, I look back at Grey Knights and their awesome models.. So I just wonder, Are they fun? Fun t play and fun to face? Are they still considerd over powerd, Or are they too weak to use, Or something in between?

Grey Knights got "Rock, Paper, Scissored" this edition. They are still a hard counter to other elite armies, yet are hard countered by almost everyone else due to their low model count. They still fill a niche, and can be fun to play, but they are not top tier.

I agree with the previous comment that they are not quite top tier and have a low model count but personally no matter which army I use of mine I do not enjoy playing against GK's. I have an fairly equal win/loss ratio but think there are just too many "really, you can do that" rules in them. I generally enter the game wishing it to be done with.

The models are cool tho tbf.

I find them a lot of fun to play, tactically there is a lot there, and painting wise there is some cool stuff,

they are middle of the road in terms of "power level"

but I have actually been kicking taudar/tau/eldar butt with them,

mostly due to strategetic manuvers and such more then "OMG i can do that rules"... of which we have none... force weapons really are not OMG any more, nor are 20-28pt marines with storm bolters, nor is making those marines str 5 in shooting or cc... they pay out the ying yang for the abilites, and die just like marines.

but yeah, when you use them right they do have a good chance against most stuff.

Oh the irony...

I love my grey knights, and I enjoy almost every game I play with them. The models, the feel of the army, and the fluff all works for me.
The lists I've run (in 6th) include:
Shunt lists
Paladinstars (including a double paladinstar build)
30 termies with some other stuff
3 land raiders, 2 storm ravens and a couple squads.

Not all my builds are competitive, but most are pretty fun for me at least. For what it's worth, I started my army back in 4th edition and didn't play during 5th cause I was in college and didn't have time. It was only when I picked back up in 6th that I found out that I had missed my army's heyday. That said, I've always liked my army and it's the only one I own.

I think GK fall at about the top 25% as armies go, but no higher. They have the tools to deal with both the 2++ deathstars and with the right build can do ok against tau and necrons. They just don't have the higher damage-per-point that eldar, tau, and necrons can bring, and they usually have fewer models. There are holes in the army (like shooting at things beyond 24"), but you can learn to fill them (like shunting a dreadknight 30").
Hope that helps.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Thanks for all the replies. A very important thing is that they are fun to play against, One problem I'm having with my Tau is that my friends just finds them boring to play against, Even when they win.. So, Are Grey Knights fun to face?

The main thing that draws me to Grey Knights is that I love the models. Another thing is, I like the idea of a very elite army with few models, That also has the ability to go less elite (Thanks to henchmen)

Well, deep striking five paladins on top of your oppenents most valuable unit is fun...
And so is killing 600 points in necron infantry with khaldor draigo.
