I made a pic for my avatar in photoshop and now I can't use it for my avatar because it is too big, 300kb. How can I scale it down to 100kb? Thanks for your answers.

MSpaint isn't perfect, but it is free and you almost certainly already have it. Hit the windows key + R at the same time, enter mspaint, hit enter. Go to town.

When you save the pic, if you're saving it as a Jpeg or a GIF, just dial down the quality setting until it goes under the 100K.

That or resize it, if the pic is larger than it needs to be.

The image dimensions need to be within of 120 by 120 pixels. Just keep scaling your image down until it's within that boundary.

Thanks for all the answers. Now I could finaly load myself a avatar although I think the dimensions were more than 120x120 but it was auto-scaled down. What do you think of my avatar?

It's better than I could have ever hoped for.

Considering he created the image himself in photoshop, that would not work.

He also got it sorted two posts above.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I'd like to apologize for my erroneous advice earlier in the thread. When I saw the thread title, and read the first sentence of your post, my mind just sort of glossed over the rest of it and assumed you needed to resize the dimensions, not resample the quality to reduce the filesize - the former is super common here and the latter is not. Sorry about that.

Although you fixed this already, for posterity you can download The Gimp for free, and follow this brief tutorial to both resize and resample an image.
