So this is the beginning of a list for a Comped tournament at my local store. We usually get anywhere from 40-70 people per event, the events seem to attract more people as the points rise bi-monthly.

Contest of Champions Comp

Each army has it's own comp requirements. So here's my List

Vulkan, Tech and sternguard go in the LR. Normally I wouldn't run a LR at this point level, but since taking TFC is a comp hit I decided to use those points and some to make a point.

Right now this list fits perfectly in the comp while still having the "bonus" points.

Wish I could. But I like odd number of pods, and you get comped once you hit 5. So at this point 3 is where I'm at.

It's not looking like a Sally list. Don't have to run pod just the sternguard and legion of the dammed don't really fit in and you're not even running them with flamers or meltas. Sniper scouts are also a bit questionable.
As a Salamander player what I would do is drop the techmarine unless you're decking him out with thunder hammer and combi melta. Drop legion of the dammed unless you're gonna give them flamers or meltas. Same with sternguard. I'd keep the melta gun on the ironclad. I've 3 of them all
With drop pods. Just depends how you want to run it. I'd include another tactical squad, either all meltas or flamers and stick them with your HQ in the land raider. Or hammernators are another option. Also would rather have multimelta than plasma cannon in flamer tac squad?

I agree with the sternguard. I can change out any of the combi weapons, so I might mix it up with flamers and meltas.
Right now the scouts aren't snipers, they are just a fast moving scoring platform for the ML.
The techmarine is there to keep the LR alive, and to support it once it drops Vulkan and stern at whatever juicy target they find.
Legion I like as it's another slot that just pops up where they need to be. Since they don't allow cover saves Plasma seems to be the best option (also I believe they don't benifit from chapter tactics).

I'd rather take another tac squad than sternguard. As long as they're mounted or in cover the whole game and you don't spend too much points on them. As for the techmarine, if they're going for your land raider they'll take it out otherwise it can ignore most punishment it takes. And as long as they have the rule 'and they shall know no fear' LotD can benefit.

Drop all weapons from all squads, next put all combi meltas on sternguard, melta, combi melta, and multi melta on tact squads, duel heavy flamers on iron clads, drop LR and take more iron clads with duel heavy flamers in drop pods. give scouts sniper rifles if anything you can get lucky and ground a FMC, for LotD take flamer combi flamer, and heavy flamer.

Salamanders are easy to play, just use meltas for AV and lots and lots of flamers for anything with a T value. Also Vulkin goes with sternguard.

Looks like you know what you want to play! I've left the meltas on my 3 ironclads but then again it's got its close combat weapons for taking out tougher enemies

Maybe I'm confused, but I'm pretty sure ATSKNF doesn't have anything to do with chapter tactics as they are both seperate rules.
As far as LOTD are concerned I just don't see the point of giving them flamers as they already ignore cover, so it seems like either giving them a plasma cannon for the ap2 pie plate, or a heavy bolter for the 4 shots.
I do like my iron pods, and I might replace the LOTD with another one as the points go up.

Also as points go up I'd like to add a chapter master and honor guard and throw them in the LR and bump Vulkan and sternguard into a Pod.

Looking at the Comp can you think of anything else that might help, or if I'm missing something?
