Hey mates, after playing as a servant of the Imperium as far back as I can remember I felt it was time for a change and I am seriously considering the new Tyranids, despite all the internet hate that they have been getting. I have been inspired to create a "Flyer" heavy list, inspired by my twin brothers Elysian Air Cav army I figured it would be cool and maybe as effective as his list to saturate the field with flying monstrous creatures. Now this is my first attempt ever at Tyranids so please mates any and all help is much appreciated and encouraged. Thanks for posting guys!

HQ: 460pts.

-Flytyrant *Warlord*
*w/ TL-Devourers with Brainleech Worms, Regeneration

-Flytyrant
*w/ TL-Devourers with Brainleech Worms

ELITES: 90pts.

-x2 Venomthropes *Split Up*

TROOPS: 505pts.

-Tervigon
*w/ Regeneration

-x30 Termagaunts

-x20 Termagaunts

-x20 Termagaunts

FAST ATTACK: 465pts.

-Crone

-Crone

-Crone

HEAVY SUPPORT: 480pts.

-Mawloc

-Mawloc

-Exocrine
*w/ Regeneration

TOTAL ARMY: 2000 POINTS

With this army I will have potentially one mean alpha strike turn 2 and with 5 flyers on the board along with the Exocrine I feel that I will have the needed firepower to handle what I may come across. The Venomthropes will shield the Termagaunts and the Tervigon while the rest of my army does what it does best and takes the fight to the enemy.

I'll bite bro! Looks pretty balanced with a good range of Troops and MC spam, not an expert on Nids but if you want to be more "vanguardish"

-x2 Flytyrants (Warlord with Regeneration, Old Adversary)
-x3 Crones
-x2 Mawlocs
-x2 Tervigons "Troops" with Regeneration
-x60 Termagants (2 squads of x30)
-x2 Venomthropes

With this you get x5 Flying Monstrous Creatures, x2 Monstrous Creatures with Synapse and Regeneration, some units that give off shrouding and a few good blobs of cheap troops.

You need some mid field synapse so your Tervie doesn't get focussed. You could drop the Exocrine and take 3 Zoans and with the left over 40 points give your Mawlocs TS and give the other Flyrant Regen. You would still have some nice AP2 shooting with your Zoans.

Edit: Just noticed you're not taking 2 sets of Devourers on each of your Tyrants. I'd recommend you do as this makes them much more of a threat.

Here is a revised list swapping out the extra regen for 2 more sets of Devourers for the Flyrants. Also don't be afraid to mix it up with your Gaunts guns. Spinefist are on average better against T1,2,34 and T6 with Fleshborers only being better against T5 and T7.

I don't think you have your regen cost plugged into your HQ. On a side note, I don't really care for the upgrade, its expensive and rarely have I seen it work. The only model I would consider keeping it on would be the terv... simply because of 6 wounds.

Flyrants tend to get targeted and with your terv being all that's left I agree an earlier post that you need some more mid field synapse. ( like a zoan)

You have pretty much built a "wall" to walk an exocrine into range. So next to that shooting your crones and flyrants are going to have to do all of the work. You will need to utilize them well and make sure they are getting VS and templates off...

Crone should be interesting in a trios package. The 24" range should mean they do next to nothing on the first turn, if they deploy right. If you do move them up you are hanging them out and likely hoping they shoot those down instead of your flyrants.

It looks interesting, I would love to hear how the test game went!

I think, if you drop a unit of Gaunts and the Regen on the Exocrine, you should be able to get a few Zoanthropes for more synapse, and that would help the remaining Gaunts out

Well as suggested you need more Devourers on the Hive Tyrant. Whilst the Troops and Exocrine don't seem to dovetail well with the rest of the list. Something like this could work with decent turn 1 pressure and an almost unstoppable turn 2 punch.

Hive Tyrant: wings, 2 x Devourers 230
Hive Tyrant: wings, 2 x Devourers 230

You force 4 pinning checks turn 1, with 2 at -2 Ld. Have 4 aerial units and really strong firepower. Turn 2 you assault everything and win the best thing being nothing in your army cares about Synapse!

+1 to this list. I think it would be amazing, no changes needed.

Building off what FlingitNow started:

Hive Tyrant: wings, 2 x Devourers, Electroshock Grubs 240

Hive Crone: 155
Hive Crone: 155
Hive Crone: 155
Hive Crone: 155

With this i have dropped one of the Flytyrants to add two more squads of Tyranid warriors with barbed stranglers to increase number of scoring units. Also have given each Flytyrant Electroshock Grubs for the haywire. Out of curiosity how are you forcing 4 pinning checks? Other then that I love this list!

Barbed stranglers have pinning and the Broodlord come with The Horror which is a pinning check at -2 LD. Its the main use of Stealers in this codex. Great for forcing units to snapshot andstay still (dovetails well with Lictor guided Mawlocs).

I rarely use a huge amount of troops in any of my armies. My Tau run 4 min squads of FWs, Marines 3 five man tac squads, Necrons just 4 min squads of Warriors. I don't really play to objectives heavily. Table, contest and secondaries is normally enough for me. This is not 5th where troops were all important.
