I have piles of Leman Russes but am having problems figuring out which ones to use. I have:
Three standard Lemans with hull lascannon and sponson bolters,
One Exterminator with las hull and plasma sponsons
Two Vanquishers with hull lascannons
One Demolisher with bolters all around
and a Executioner with lascannon hull and plasma sponsons

I normally fight Orks, Eldar, vehicle heavy Necrons, and Space Marines with Predators and Landraiders.

Most games are 2000 points, what do you experienced IG players use.

Seriously, I use 2 basic Leman Russ with heavy bolters and no sponsons, and those pie plates helps kills any and everything; ordinance gives 2 dice when rolling for pen, so I always get a penetrating. good range, good AP solid chassis and cheap price.

Demolisher otherwise.

Well, i play orkses and can say that if i go Battlewagon rush - no leman russes are really that frightening. Probably a demolisher is best there. A s10 ordnance large blast is not a joke even with 5+ cover. Also, bikernobz don't like it. U should have no issues with range on a demolisher vs orkses. Just place forward and then roll backwards when they start advancing. Than bauble-wrap with infantry. But to be honest, i'd be much more afraid of a manticore than of any leman russ you could bring. Vanquisher has low bs and just 1 shot. Probably more frightening to wagons when gets lc and Pask but it's a waste other than sniping out high av tanks with bad cover saves. Which demolisher can do without Pask.
I field a leman russ myself! As part of an allied detachment for my boyz. It's Exterminator with laz and hb sponsons commanded by Pask. Now that's what i call a reliable tank that's good at everything. Not outstanding but it's gona work almost all the time.
Tried out eradicator and it's game-changing when you face tau gunline and pathfinders in ruins.

So if u're up for leman russ tanks i'd go for Demolisher, Exterminator with Pask, Eradicator.

My favorite tank right now is either using the standard russ with just a hull heavy bolter to just give me cheap templates or I would go with the Vanquisher. Give the Vanquisher a hull lascannon and eithe are sponson Multimeltas for more anti tank, or give it sponson plasma cannons. either your going more anti vehicle or anti vehicle with the ability to do a lot of damage to meq and teq, either way its a lot of high strength ap1-2 shots. I usually add pask to one of these vanqs and he always makes his points up.

Executioner. Of the things in this game that need to die, fewer and fewer are 3+ saves. Also, Executioner is useful vs MCs where normal battle tanks arent. Neither are particularly effective vs vehicles. Executioner with prescience inquisitor though.... thats a force to be reckoned with. One of the few guard weapons that deters deepstriking, because if they cant kill the tank, they are dead in return.

Basically my 2 favorite options for lemon russ are either:

A: 2 standard russ's for anti-infantry and light armor

B: 3 punishers in a squadron/w multi-melta sponsons on 2 of em. roll them forward in an inverted V formation with the one in the middle front (no sponsons) tanking for the other 2. This gives you a ton of anti-infantry and anti-tank.



If you run a bunch of lazcannon heavy weapon teams, option A is better. If you run plasma vets option B is better.
