So, I wanted to do a fun little thematic force- this will be allied with Guard or maybe eventually daemons, or part of a larger CSM force focusing on Night Lords (meaning light, fast melee with light vehicles, probably some fliers (helldrake, FW))

This isn't competitive, just looking for something that'll be relatively useable

So, this is what the list looks like:
HQ options:
-Typhus or Daemon prince (going to make an oversized Typhus that can fit either role)
-Sorc or lord

Elites:
-Terminators
-Hellbrute

Troops:
-Plague Marines (1-2 squads)
-zombies (1 large unit)

Heavy:
-2 Obliterators

Everything that can have a mark of Nurgle will.

So, my main questions are
-how would you recommend I arm the Terminators? the Plague Marines? the Hellbrute?
-which two of the four HQ options would you suggest?
-What size would you suggest for the units?

My preferences (if possible, but not necessary)
-Squads multiples of 7, or 3 Terminators. 5 is also okay; given the weird restriction below, I'm thinking 2x5 and 7 terminators, or 7 PM's and 7 Terminators but not stuck on that.
-PM aspiring champ with some sort of power weapon or fist (since I like the minis)
-Terminators using at least a fair number of the power weapons, fists, Lightning Claws (which don't need to be paired) available, at least one chain fist (converted from power), one reaper AC; I also have a single axe/combi bolter terminator test that I'd rather not need to cut on again.

Points are flexible. Again, this is casual but I want to make it something that won't crash and burn. I also recognize that some of the above choices are mutually exclusive when taking allies, but this is the list I'll be painting (at least to start with).

So... the weird restriction: I'm making this army (minus Typhus/DP, Oblits, zombies) out of Dark Vengeance minis that I got for a good deal, heavily converting them. This means that there are a few very specific requirement: The total Terminator and PM count can't exceed 18. Yes, I'm converting Marines into Termies; no, I don't need to use all of the models (the rest can get repurposed elsewhere). This should also inform you of what options I have, though I have enough bits to do a fair number of conversions.

Thanks for any advice!

Suppose the most immediate advice is that Plague Marines cannot be Troops unless your Primary army is Chaos Marines. If taken as an Allied contingent they are Elites, regardless of your HQ choice.

Based on your short list:
- Terminators work best in small quantities with Combi-weaponry and no real upgrades. Keep 'em cheap and sacrificial. In your case the Mark of Nurgle is justifiable but I'd avoid any melee upgrades, Reapers, Veterans etc.
- Of the 4 you've listed, I'd say the Daemon Prince. Sorcerers don't like being Marked and so don't lend themselves to your fluff. The Lord is really a Plague Marine delivery system and so is a bit wasted as an Ally. Typhus is gnarly but extremely expensive, and to justify that expense you then need a further investment into his Zombie Horde. The Daemon Prince is a simple melee meteor and will be happy in any army that can take him.
- Terminators ideally at 3, Bikes and Marines can afford more like 6-10. Depending on models available of course.

Thanks!

That's really too bad re: PM's not being troops as allies... Looks like more often than not I'll need to run the list as the core and pick an allied attachment.

However... are regular Mark of Nurgle Marines a decent substitution for them when allies? The only swap out would need to be a missing special weapon, and I could even magnetize that.

So, how does 3 power weapon/Melta Terminators sound as a core, with expanded specialist options for larger games? Or are they really just not worth it as much other than the combi spam?

Sorry for all the questions... just getting back into the game after a long absence and still getting used to the new rules/meta.
