Hey all,

Recently got into tabletop gaming... er tabletop hobbying. I grew up as a fan of scale modeling but never had the disposable income to collect minis; but Craigslist and Ebay has made that much much easier.

I came across some Eldar and Tau both armies in decent/fair condition but no love (mould lines and sprue nibs up to ying yang and a heavily applied paint). I plan to strip and paint them to the best of my ability. Hope pictures for my future posts will help me to see where my skill in repair and miniature hobby-ing go.

I've already started to strip paint off the Eldar, about 10 or so of 40 dire avengers and fairly beat-up wave serpent (front 'fins' where mangled beyond repair so I plan to shave them off and resin pack some of the panel lines.
I've dabbled a bit with the tau as well, had some fun trying paint schemes and magnetizing XV-88 suits (sooo customizable, love the fish people mechs).

Oh and any suggestions for paint schemes? I'm digging the Yme-Loc for the Eldar; and for the Tau something in the Cool color sheme (green, blue, Purp) and then contrast markings. Think I might play around with the Adobe Kuler flash.

Hope to figure out the gameplay as well... haha. Happy New Year all; happy modeling; happy gaming!

For the Tau colors, look up the Bork'an and Dal'yth Tau.
Bork'an are a sort of calm blue-ish color. Dal'ynth is a dark olive green.

As for Eldar... looks like you've already chosen! Weird, the scheme kind of looks wood elf -ish

Also, welcome to Dakka! Hope you enjoy your time here!
