If it was me, I'd find a way to keep that blob alive. A ghost ark would help to back up the Res Orb.

If you want people to ignore your 5 man squad, which is the easiest kill point and a gimme for First Blood, then they need more than just some cover. A transport, or a Bastion maybe?

Phaeron is a waste of points. Don't see where the use of occasional assault is worth it in warriors, and 20pts is a lot.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, you're very right about the phaeron upgrade being a waste. but that also made me wonder if it would be better to just use a normal lord from a royal court.

it would save me 75 points with just that. Also if i took the phase shifter off of him that would give me 120 points to work with

now i was thinking i could put it into transport like a night scythe for the small squad. but then i would be left with 20 points that i wouldn't know what to do with.
or
i could put the points into a ghost ark and put the small squad inside and have them fire out, which would only leave me with 5 points that i don't know what to do with.

I would drop the spyder, the particle casters and phaeron and get a nightscythe to make that 5 man squad well worth its points. Tbf I find a 20man blob with res orb is durable enough against shooting without a GA.

I'd drop the phaeron, spyder, particle casters, maybe a warrior if necessary, and get either an annihilation barge or a night scythe. The night scythe is probably the better buy here

Well. Way too much spent on HQs at this level.

I'd probably want three troops too.

And small units need to be kept alive. I'd put the 5 man in a ghost ark or night scythe with another squad similarly wrapped from the points cashed in for the overlord, Spyder and particle caster. Probably one of each, as the ghost ark helps keep the large blob alive and lends a lot of fire support to this unit.

I don't know if big blobs are very competitive, but this will be better in casual games at least.

HQ Destroyer Lord = 160
semp weave, mindshackle scarabs

HQ Necron lord = 105
mindshackle scarabs, semp weave, res orb, warscythe

Troop Warriors x20 = 260
Troop Warrior x10 = 130

FA Canoptek Wraiths x6 = 240
3x whip coils

FA Night Scythe = 100

Grand total= 995

Drop one Whip Coil and put Phaeron back in for 2 reasons:

1- If you shoot the same unit that the Wraiths are going to charge, you can force your opponent to blow his Overwatch on the Warriors. Your opponent will most likely be putting his units in cover once he sees that Wraith unit. So every casualty, even Overwatch, will help the wraiths since everything will most likely be swinging first, and Whip Coils don't do much on the turn you charge if target is in cover.

2- The larger the units, the easier it becomes for your opponent to avoid the MSS on the turn you get charged. Lose combat, break, and your not getting to use them at all. Having Phaeron allows you to assault any survivors and get to use the MSS on that first round. Also helps if you land that +1" to charge as your Warlord trait. (Something that happens a ton to me.)

I'm not a fan of Coils in general, but I use Wraiths differently than most. Even if you like them, they are a bit Overkill on 1k, and you might try adding more Warriors to the NS instead of those 2 Coils. Try it and see for yourself if you like it.

thank you for the advice about whip coils and phaeron upgrades Akar, but I haven't had an occasion where my warriors failed a morale check after losing the combat. They usually end up just tar pitting until they are either slowly killed by a squad of paladins or end up winning the fight against one of my friends less combat friendly squads that they decide to send at me because his favorite tactic is to run up and punch things in the face. And against my friends nids (who doesn't really know how to play them effectively) i usually end up shooting his things to death before his gaunts get to me.

I believe i will reduce the number of whip coils like you suggested to add in more warriors because more warriors is never a bad thing

thanks again!

You're missing a killy heavy unit, If you can find 90 points, I'd recommend an annihilation barge. Really though, it's up to you. If it's for fun, you can get away with anything with Necrons lol.

Umm..
You can't take a Necron Lord without an Generic or Named Overlord. Destroyer Lords do not unlock Royal Courts.

Also Night Scythes are NOT fast attacks, they are dedicated transports. While you can deploy them empty, they are still associated with a unit for FOC allocation.

Suggestions:
At 1000 points, I would split your troops into 3 units of 10 and keep 1 unit in the Night Scythe for late game objective grab/clearing.
The 6 wraiths with 2 whip coils will be mean, especially when joined with the Destroyer Lord.
I would remove the Necron Lord since you can't take him the way your list is anyways. I would use the point to get an Annihilation Barge.

At that point, you should be in good shape overall.

Well firstly the list you have is illegal. You cannot take royal court with a destroyer lord.

Second if you have 20 man warrior squad you should have a res orb and ideally a ghost arch instead of a night sythe for those extra 10 warriors.

Third where are your annihilation barges?!? They should definitely be there in these low point level games. They kill fliers, monstrous creatures, and deal amazing amounts of wounds to regular inf.

Lastly, drop phaeron. Just a standard overlord holding a res orb is all you need or want. If you want something to get into melee take wraiths, they're infinitely better than warriors and they will actually make it into combat with move through cover and being jump infantry.

Also a night sythe is a dedicated transport, not a fast attack choice.

In my opinion you should go with...

HQ
Destroyer lord
Mindshackle scarabs
Sep weave
160

Troops
20 warriors
10 warriors
1ghost arch
505

Fast Attack
6 wraiths
3 whip coils
240

Heavy Support
1 annihilation barge
90

So that's 995 total, you can take a particle caster if you feel like spending those extra 5 points.

Run the Warriors at 2x15 man squads, and put an orb back on the DLord. Then you can decide on a game by game basis to run the DLord with the 15 Warriors on the ground if you think the Wraiths can handle anything that might oppose them.

I'd even start the DLord in the unit of Warriors, then switch him to the Wraiths on Turn 1. Even if your opponent chews through all that, he's still going to have to deal with the 30 RF shots that have yet to arrive.
