I started working on creating some Ork themed terrain for my games lately.
I have a large imperial set at the moment and wanted something different to game with and to compliment scenarios etc.
I began by working on Orkifying an Imperial Bastion kit. I had a decent bits box that I decided to dip into and see what I could come up with.
A few WiP shots to start with.
I made the barricade-type section from spare sprue
I added scoring to sections to simulate damage by Tyranids that the Orks had been fighting (That was us Ratiussss - yes thanks for poppng in Hissy).
The piping was also spare sprue bits
I used lots of bits from my bits box on it including pieces from a Gargant, Chaos shrine, Ork boys and Ork trukks. Anything that looks like scrap basically!
Here are a few finished but unpainted shots. I split the bastion kit into two by the way to get the most out of it.
I picked up these Ork terrain kits ages ago - I think they are now OOP which is a pity because they are pretty funky imo.
My Ork army is from the Goff clan whos colors are primarily black and white checks and dark brown but I have most of them done with red as a tertiary color to break them up and add a dash of color.
I wanted the pieces to stand out on my RoBG board so decided to use the red as a primary.
So here is the finished set
A Mordian Valkyrie recons over an Ork Gargant construction site pre dawn
Grots and Killa kans seek shelter from an incomming barrage
Ork bikers make a dash for safety as a Mordian Valkyrie makes a strafing run overhead
Next up Im going to Orkify this beast!
Thanks for viewing!

I started Orkifing the RoBG this week. It was back to the bits box to see what I could come up with.
Heres a few WiP shots
I wanted it to look like this dugout once had a roof or that the Orks had begun patching it up for more cover
The Orks have salvaged some heavier weaponry for more dakka
In typical Ork fashion they have chosen to store ammo crates beside a generator. They have obviously been fighting Hissys Hive again (Go to hell Orkkkks). Thanks Hissy.
A crude weapons platform has been setup along with an AA missile launcher. In additon they have patched up the front defense doors
Mines have been laid at the entrance of the base and a barricade erected to prevent vehicles entering
Overview
I'll hopefully get around to painting it up next week. I still have some banners and gubbins to add to it.

1. Go to FLGS on a 40K game night.
2. Announce to no one in particular "I have over 10,000 points of Space Marines".
3. Sit back and watch as some 30-ish Neckbeard who still lives with his parents not only disputes your claim, but goes on to describe his 30,000 points of Blood Angels and how he has been playing since Rogue Trader days... And yet you will have never seen him either play 40K or that army.
4. From here, you have several options. Continue the conversation, or just end it. Either way, I guarantee you will waste 1+ hour of your life talking to this guy. Have fun!
The snow effect was pretty basic, s can of GW white spray paint "dusted" over the surface of the boards, heavier or lighter in places depending on how I wanted to represent a natural snowfall effect.

I finished off the last of my Orkifying terrain piece this week, leaving only the Skullmance orbital cannon conversion to complete.
Some WiP pics, they include two defense lines, a comms tower and an Ork artillary piece which I'll proxy for the new big gunz.
A few shots of the overall setup with the rest of the pieces
And finally the realm of battle Ork bunker conversion with everything added. Quite happy with the way everything came out and hopefully will add a nice new dimension to battlefield setups and objectives
I also kitbashed a Grot tank and AA emplacement just for fun. Some WiPs

I managed to finished off the kitbashed big guns/emplacements and combined them with my old 2nd ed artillary units.
I forgot how much I loved the old pulsa rokkit (and its rules!).
They arent 100% finished, I have to do the Grot gunners properly and wash a tiny bit but overall happy with the look and they should fit in nicely with the Orkified terrain overall.
I'll try and a get a game going over the next few weeks using the Orkified terrain/kits and batrep it hopefully.
Hissy awaits.....

Finally got around to starting on the Ork orbital gun array.
I used bits and bobs from my Gargant and general Ork kits and then some pieces from an imperial manifactorum kit I had.
A few WiP shots.
I added a stairwell around the middle of the kit rather than where it was normally positioned
I left out two of the skull wall sections and Orkified it instead - sorry for the blurry pics
The gun was made from the chimney of the manufactorum kit and two smaller pipe pieces
I left off the extended room piece and instead Orkified it
The orbital array
Finished desgin
And partly painted. I hope to finish it off this week and then I'll get a group shot of all the terrain
With the extras left over I kitbashed a few more rural pieces to go with my Chaos shrine and woods/trees etc - a more rustic warhammer feel to it, meant to replicate an Imperial feral world.

This is some awesome terrain! I really like how once the pieces are painted you can't tell all the bits and bobs are from other kits. It looks like one great big piece. Well done!
All too often we see the term 'orky' as being a byword for shoddy and lazy building, "but it's orky" but this looks proper built. Two big thumbs up to you.
Nice use of sprue offcuts as well, I used to use them a lot for all sorts of things and always had trouble not making them look like sprue offcuts,
Lo there do I see my Father. Lo there do I see my Mother, and my Sisters and my Brothers. Lo there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning. Lo they do call to me. They bid me take my place among them, in the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.
