Venomthrope - 45

3 Carnifexes, each with 2 x TL Brainleech Devourers - 450
Mawloc - 140
Mawloc - 140
Bastion - 75
Total - 1845
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Both lists rely on the Bastion with Venomthrope inside and Zoanthrope just behind trick that folks have been discussing in the Tactics forum here.
The second list drops the Biovores, Spore Mines, and a Carnifex to add 2 Mawlocs. So, the only real difference is in heavy support... which do you think is better?

I think in the first list, it'd be better to give 3 of the Fexes spine banks than to keep the spore mines. Any other suggestions?

IMO you don't have enough objective holders, but dunno how you want to play this so... not sure about that.
I don't like biovores (personnal opinion) that's why i will go with 2nd list.
Maybe you could run those 3 fexes naked (or with AG) and go for more models, up to you.
Otherwise #2 list seems solid.

I'm leaning toward the first to start, but dropping 5 gargoyles and the spore mines to add a unit of gaunts, for another objective holder as you say. Alternatively, I could drop a biovore and the spore mines.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated! I just received my models last night and plan to build exactly what I need for my list to start. Although I do plan to add extra heavy support options as my first addition (Mawlocs and Exocrines).

I'd say the first list in spite of ny love for mawlocs. Three biobores and an extra carnifex is nice. I would find a way to work in more scoring units as well. Is the plan to deny objectives by spamming mines or something?

Okay, by popular demand here is both with another scoring unit . I guess I may need even more, but at least this is a start! The second list I also tried configuring with 2 Exocrines instead of 2 Mawlocs. I will probably try it both ways, and would add in another min-sized unit of gaunts and upgrade the Tervigon to have the Miasma Cannon if going with the Mawlocs, for a third backfield threat to my opponent (if Outflanked with Hive Commander). I had to cut the Gargoyles from the second list to fit it all in.
Any recommendations, let me know as I'm going to begin my building frenzy towards these lists tonight! I'm keeping a lot of overlap so that I can hopefully re-use almost everything in the army between lists except for my Heavy Support selections.

I think that you'll probably need to play test them. At this point you're probably splitting hairs.
Which list plays to who you are, and want to be? Are you more aggressive or do you want to play the shooting game?
Do you feel that you need more scoring? Remember, the list I was advocating? I had a Tervigon and a unit of 30 gants for my scoring (and a unit of genestealers). I felt that it was enough.
That being said, the rest of your list: Can it stop your opponent from scoring? How many Wave serpents can it down? How many razorbacks/chimeras can you destroy?
I think that only playtesting will be able to help you distinguish between these lists. The interwebs always have an opinion, but the aren't always right.

I would do this but it is all theory since i do not play Nids.:
Hive Tyrant, 2 x TL Brainleech Devourers, with maxed tyrant guard.
Tervigon
30 Termagaunts
30 Termagaunts
Zoanthrope - 50
Zoanthrope - 50
Venomthrope - 45
3 Carnifexes, each with 2 x TL Brainleech Devourers
3 Biovores
1 Mawloc
Bastion
---------------------
My feelings are that the Heavy Support Slots are packed with necessities in this edition for Nids. Biovores are going to be big and really shake things up IMO
Also, wings on the hive tyrants are not as important as durability. Make that tyrants and it's valuable synapse nearly impossible to down. This will also deny your opponent "Slay the Warlord".
Lastly, gribblies will win you games. Stack up on the scoring gribblies. (love that word)

I think you're right, roxor!
Deuce, I agree about the heavy support slots. I am also going to try a walkrant, just not right off the bat. And I am painting extra "gribblies" in case I decide I need more gaunts... the hive tyrant model I'm using is actually from a company called "Gribbly Miniatures"
