I like bikes, lots of bikes. I have also acquired Buffcommander, Riptide and 10 Kroots.

I need help in filling up the roster, I do _not_ need to face flyers. This is what I have so far:

HQ:
Chapter Master with bike, Shield Eternal, AA, TH
Buffmander with Vectored Retro Thrusters, CnC Node, PEN, MSS Suite, 2+ armor

Elite:
Riptide with either Ion Accelerator or HBC and TLSMS + shielded missile drone

Troops:
2 units of 5 White Scars bikers (2 grav + 1 combi-grav) with attack bike (MM)
10 Kroots

Heavy:
3 Centurion Devastators with Omniscope, 3 Grav-Cannons, 3 MLs


That is 1380 pts so far out of 1850. I have been thinking of having 2 more biker groups, or one biker group and psyker (either Coteaz or 79pts one with psychotroke grens) and TFC + Stormtalon.

I don't know what route to go, looking for advice here.

Well I would get 2 more squads of bikes, then thunder fire canons.

I'd also separate the attacks bikes out into fast attack choices. You don't want multi-melta's shooting at the same as grav guns.

Okay, my idea was to have the Buffmander join Riptide or Cents, depending on the need. Does the Buffmander need anything beyond the 2+ armor?

I could take inq psyker for 79 or 100 pts and drop the missile drone. Then have buffmander join Riptide and psyker cents.

I'll modify the list accordingly.

Combi Grav's aren't very good in my opinion. Thats however just MY opinion. And how are the Devastators going to get upfield without getting killed? If you put the Chapter Master with them....well....that won't work... When on a Bike Chapter Master gets a jink save. The Centurions won't. Differing cover saves allow for focus fire. Your Centurions will get singled out.

I would try to alpha strike with Prescienced TFC and Orb Bomb, with Buffmander staying with Riptide for a nice pie plate. The bikes are quick enough to get in range with all guns and Kroot can either Infiltrate or Outflank.

I won't keep the CM behind with Cents/TFC. I don't think the Centurions will get that much heat with 4 squads of bikes closing on the enemy.

Another question I have is should I try to get 3 Broadsides with 6 missile drones? It costs an awful lot of points, requiring me to nerf the bike squads. I'm also considering running Riptide as HBC, which I personally fear more.

What do you think?

_MUST_ I jink? Can't I choose NOT to? I am unsure where in BRB it says I have to choose 4+ cover save rather than 3+ armor save?

In any case, I should be happy if the Centurions take so much fire. It means my bikers will get in their face. And if I must, I will let the Psyker die rather than lose the Centurions. That should be worth a couple of turns.

You sadly have to jink. I do like the list a lot however I would get some AA in the list. Broadsides or an HBC Riptide can do that.

That can't be true. Let's say I am shot with AP3 weapon. My opponent declares focus fire 4+ as the biker is the only one with a cover save. But I would not even want to use jinking when everything got 2+ armor save?!? I must be missing something here.

Fortunately I do not have to worry about flyers. Besides SM I also have Daemons and those are the only flyers in my meta, at least for time being.

It depends mate. If the cents are in the open then they can't focus fire on just the biker. Focus fire requires you to allocate wounds to the number stated or worse. If the cents are in the open, their save is worse! Just make sure they're never in cover better than 4+ and you can always allocate wounds to them!

Then we have been playing Focus Fire wrong. Looks like it is another badly implemented rule.

I want the CM to tank everything, that is why he is 2+/3++. In order to accomplish this, I need to hide the unit somewhere where everyone gets a 4+ cover save, otherwise the cents can be targeted? That.. does not make sense. He would in no circumstance use the jink save which is always worse than the invu save, which he can always take.

If there are differing cover saves then you can focus fire.

Why not bump the unit of Kroot up to 16 and take them with sniper rounds (they are solid).
That would help add some firepower when infiltrating or outflanking and you can add in a hound to bump up their ability in close combat just a thought.

Broadsides might be a good idea because if you have a group of three with missile drones they can be super deadly. Maybe take a small group of pathfinder to add some markerlight support?

Then I might as well be playing Tau and that is not my wish

After some more thinking (no, really, I did) I believe this to be my final list. As I wrote, I don't really have to care about flyers, unless someone borrows my Chaos Daemons.

I'd really like to run Broadsides, but then the list is more about Tau than Space Marines.

I'll try to have CM with TFC for Prescience if I start, otherwise I'll just have him with the Centurions. I believe I will play him aggressively in the end. Coteaz helps a bit in the backfield, also hides with Centurions. I was thinking of going for GoI with 2 rolls and then picking Prescience, but I will probably end up with two random Divinations + Prescience.

I believe I have enough bikes to cause problems with target priority. Also my main opponents will be Tau, Eldar (non-spammy), Necron (no air force), Orks, Blood Angels and Ultramarines.

My list is neither TAC nor very competitive, but it should be fun.

Oh, and I need to figure out what to do with the Focus Fire, that's a bummer... Maybe I'll have Coteaz tank instead and LOS to Centurions one wound each.
