Hi guys! I have been a tyranid player for over 10 years but didn't play them at all in 5th, so was thinking of blowing the dust of my old bugs.
So, here it goes:

HQ
Flyrant, 2 x TL-Devourer - 230 pts
Flyrant, 2 x TL-Devourer - 230 pts

Elites
Venomthrope - 45 pts
Venomthrope - 45 pts
Zoanthrope x 2 - 100 pts

Troops
Tyranid Warriors x 3, barbed strangler - 100 pts
Tyranid Warriors x 3, barbed strangler - 100 pts
Genestealers x 5 - 70 pts
Genestealers x 5 - 70 pts

Fast Attack
Gargoyles x 30 - 180 pts
Hive Crone - 155 pts

Heavy Support
Biovores x 2 - 80 pts
Biovores x 2 - 80 pts

Total - 1485 pts

So the plan was to start using the Gargoyles as a screen during deployment, then rushing them forward to tie up enemy units using their blinding venom. The Zoans will tag allong using whatever power they get to either buff my bugs, or warp blast the opponents.
Flyrants will fly around the table picking at the priority targets along with the Crone. Biovores stay back with the Warriors at some objectives placed back on my table half, with the Venoms providing them shroud (ofc covering as many bugs as possible first at deployment). Genestealers will either infiltrate to some middle opjectives, or stay as reserves to come on and get them later in the game.

Got 15 pts left over, but have no idea what to do with them... Feel like I don't have enough anti-tank though, but hopefully you guys got some input for me!

What about splitting the gargoyles into two units of 16 (using your extra 15 points)?

I think you've got the right amount of points spent on troops, but I'm not totally sure about your selections there. Well be interesting to see if lists with no gaunts can hang tough.

Yeah, I feel the Troops section in the new book is by far the most difficult to get right. Looks to me like the Gants need to much babysitting for objective games. If you use Gants to hold objective you will also need some synapse close by, and it would suck having your 30 strong brood falling back because your synapse got killed. So if you need a unit of Warriors or a Tervigon there anyway, why not drop the Gants and go strait for Warriors or Stealers who don't care about that.

If you're taking stealers they need the Broodlord as that's basically the only reason to take them. An ADL would do more for less than your gargoyles.

Due to the speed of the rest of your army (3 FMCs) perhaps some Lictors would fit better than the Zone. Then swapping the Biovores for a Mawloc. Something like this:

HQ
Flyrant, 2 x TL-Devourer - 230 pts
Flyrant, 2 x TL-Devourer - 230 pts

Elites
Venomthrope - 45 pts
Venomthrope - 45 pts
Lictor x 3 - 150 pts

Troops
Tyranid Warriors x 3, barbed strangler - 100 pts
Tyranid Warriors x 3, barbed strangler - 100 pts
Genestealers x 5, Broodlord - 130 pts
Genestealers x 5, Broodlord - 130 pts

Fast Attack
Hive Crone - 155 pts

Heavy Support
Mawloc - 140 pts

ADL - 50

So place the ADL on the half way line. Deploy infiltrators behind it. Rest of army also deploys behind it but further back should still get 2+ cover with shrouded from Venomthropes. You should force 4 pinning checks turn 1 town of which are at -2 LD. Lictors wander over to a pinned unit (which can't move remember) following turn the Mawloc arrives bang on said pinned unit kills it and your Lictors, Stealers and FMCs should all be able to assault too!

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com
