A pretty straight forward bug list.

Starting to settle on a few units I like...until i am able to buy the models for units I really really like...Gargoyles, Mawlocs, and Trygons...

HQ
-Hive Tyrant (Wings, 2x Devourers, Hive Commander)

-Prime (LW/BS, Scything Talons, Toxin Sacs)

TROOP
-Tervigon (Cluster Spines)

-30 Termagants (10 Fleshborers, 20 Devourers)

-12 Genestealers + Broodlord

-30 Hormagaunts

-3 Warriors (Barbed Strangler)

ELITE
-Venomthrope

FAST

HEAVY
-2 Carnifexes (Adrenal Glands)

-Exocrine

1848/1850

And no...I'm not sold on the stealers...but I want to try them out.

Which unit is the Prime attached to? I'm guessing the outflanking termagants?

I don't really see what the Prime adds to this list and there doesn't seem a natural place for him.

A lot of points in troops and a lot of it fairly wasteful. Tervigons are OK troop Synapse but if you're taking them it should be part of MC spam with them as your only troops.

Hormagaunts are a bit meh decent as a screen but an ADL does the same job better for less points.

Min units of warriors with cannon are ace but again for me are best for MC spam and again seem to be a natural fit with nothing other than other warriors and MCs on the board.

Stealers should only be taken for the BL so you've bought 7 more stealers than you should have. Pinning spam seems their best bet.

Heavy Support seems light. You're very low on firepower and the Tyrant seems isolated as the only FMC. It just seems very bitty with bits of lits of different types of list and no central theme.

You're saying the units you love are Gargoyles, Mawlocs and Trygons. Mawlocs I get they are great particularly with Stealers and Lictors in toe (stealers to pin the unit in place so the Lictors can guide in the mawloc). But gargoyles are just a poor mans ADL if they were troops I would consider them but they got nerffed in this codex and there are better options now. Whilst Trygons are for me the worst HS choice now so I wonder what you like about those units?

How about this?

Deathleaper
Flyrant with 2x devourers

Tervigon
30 termagants 10 spike rifles and 20 fleshborers
3 warriors with barbed strangler
5 stealers + broodlord

Hive crone
3x spore mine cluster
3x spore mine cluster

2x adrenal fexes
Exocrine

Venomthrope
2x zoanthrope
3x hive guard

I know that death leader and the crone aren't seen as particularly strong but I've had some great games with them...deathleaper as a spore mine deliverer in particular.

Couldn't find a better way to add synapse than the tervigon and warriors.

Deathleaper is amazing just don't use him like a tool. If he was an Elite rather than HQ he'd be in literally every army. As is it is a tough toss up between him and a 2nd Flyrant (which makes a huge difference to the effectiveness of the first).

It looks better now with the Hiveguard being the only unit that stands out as a weak choice.

This issue with the Crone is the 4+ save and Eldar aside basically everyone's AA is AP4 which really hurts him. Put the Eldar back into the equation and a fast shot Exarch on a quad gun can easily one shot him. They should hit with all 5 shots (2s rerolling) then it is a case of do I roll a 1 on these 5 dice if not you're dead.

Not sure why the Carnifexes aren't dakka. Plus I feel they are best when spammed (taking 6-9 Dakkafexes, backed up by an Exocrine and Dakkaflyrants in MTO style lists). So again the list looks like its trying to do too much.

Personally, I am trying to keep some of my personal flavor in the list...broodlords screamerfexes tervigons are really what I want to keep more than anything.

AA is not really a thing in my meta...but I'm not deadest on the fliers either...

I am really looking to avoid duplicate units for what I consider to be maximum fun.

I'm not looking to be optimized to the max...just optimized to my preferences...I don't even like dakkatyrants, I find them boring.

I am completely willing to rework the list from scratch if you have any ideas.

HQs:
Tyranid Prime w/ Miasma Cannon
Tervigon

Troops:
5x Genestealers w/ Broodlord
5x Genestealers w/ Broodlord
5x Genestealers w/ Broodlord
3x Tyranid Warriors w/ Barbed Strangler
3x Tyranid Warriors w/ Barbed Strangler
3x Tyranid Warriors w/ Barbed Strangler
20x Termagants
20x Termagants

Elites:
Venomthrope
Venomthrope
Zoanthrope
Zoanthrope

Heavy Supports:
2x Carnifex w/ Bio-plasma
Tyrannofex w/ Shreddershard Beetles

Ok, granted that there is a bit of duplication in here, it should be a fun list. Hide the Tyranid Prime with the Tyrannofex, and keep it marching up the board. It should get fairly entertaining.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Well if you're not looking for competitive then your list is OK only the Hive guard stand out as a really poor choice (swap them for Zoanthropes and you're golden, or better yet an ADL and a few more Venomthropes.)

Lost my hive guard for more reliable brood lord pinning and cover

What do you think of my termagant guns? They've been working well for me to ensure the back lines get shots in earlier.

CHALLENGE ALSO ACCEPTED

Alrighy so I'm gonna give ya a list that's well under points, with minimal upgrades, just enough for it to have a good foundation based on your preferences, and from there you can further tweak it to fit your vision for what you want your army to be. The way I've proposed it is very wordy, with me explaining why this is needed and that is needed, and once I have created the 900 or so point base, I give a few general directions you could take the army.

So first of the 3 things you really wanted to keep:
1) Tervigon: So he's a bit random(in mechanics i mean) and easy to focus on his own, so because of his instability well put him as a troop with a squad of 30 Termes along with a Venomthrope to Keep him surviving.[Consider adding a second Tervi really goes a long way, it helps mitigate the randomness so if one one stops birthing at least you have a chance to keep pumping out more guants]
2)Screamer Killer Carnifex: how can you not run more than one XD, I'm throwing in 2 for good measure, 1 brood of 2. This threat not only works on its own but synergizes well with the Tervigon giving your enemy to more big things to focus on
3)Broodlords: Genes with a lord outflanking can be a real terror, but we need to make the unit larger/scary enough for it to be a serious threat that your opponent will either have to deal with or, if they don't deal with them, you will have a jovial time wreaking havoc so ive added 15 more stealers bring the unit to 20 and the lord. [such a large unit you'll want to outflank, not infiltrate unless you can definitely keep them out of site for a turn 1 and 2. If you are going to add more Broodlords spread the 15 extra among the units]

This is 980, and this is your base. Leaving 870 points to do with what you want. Each element here works ok on its own. It list gives you 3 basic Forces, the horde, the MCs and the surprise/Infiltrating threat . If you further spread your remain 870 points among all three evenly, no one element becomes an huge threat to your opponents whole army and he will blast it apart piece by piece before you can bring the three forces to bear on him.[Note it is possible to make this tripple threat work, its just very hard to do but if your skill is high enough you can make it work]
Any army would easily have an answer to one of those three Forces. They would obliterate the one force with greater or lesser easy and then mop up the remaining two. So with the remaining points there are two things you can do to make the army a terror, either further diversify or enhance one of the 3 forces.
Diversify: Give one more radically different element your opponent has to deal with, that way when they see your army they just say omg what... what do i do theres so many thiiiings! Add in some flyers, a Crone a flyrant or 2, Try some super mobile Infantry Raveners gargoyles. But with this other element you have to ask yourself "Is it a big enough threat for my enemy to focus a large chunk of his army on?" Are 2 flyrants? yes. A Mawloc and two ravener broods? yes. 3Biovores and a Tyranofex rupture cannon? yes. All of these are sizeable threats in their own right and having 4 or 5 serparte threating forces eaching doing a different thing within an army, can be very powerful army as a whole and its alot of fun to play.

Your other Option is to further focus your army, and this is the preferred one as it makes your army easier to work, and more reliable (less moving parts means less will go wrong). SO if you absolutely adore the Screamer Killer Carnifex make them the terrifying heart of your force. Add in units that synergize with them. And play in a manner that protects that main force. Your other forces should be a catalyst that allows your main force to do its job.

Sorry for this being so long winded but I hope it helps and I look forward to seeing how your army list progresses ^^;

That could work, Maybe remove the a Gene squad, or the death leaper to try and squeeze another MC or FMC in there. But at this point you could run the list and not have much problem then tweak it to your liking ^^
