Hey everyone hope things are going well.

Lately I've been looking over at my hobby area and feeling that theres too much to do! hehe.
Putting some serious thoughts into selling off rather a lot of the stuff thats there, and well, having a bloody good clear out!

Theres a shelf full of Dark Angels, with lots left still to build that is on the maybe list. ... lets see a quick(but by no means complete) run down is 25 or so temrinators, 2 dreadnoughts, 60-70 marines with various gear, 10-15scouts, 1 drop pod, 1 predator, 1 landraidercrusader (not built), 3 landspeeders (2 not built), 18bikers, 2 attack bikes, landspeeder vengeance, dark talon bomber, ravenwing command, converted ravenwing librarian, sammael on jetbike, azrael, DV master, DV librarian, DV ltd edition chaplain, Blackreach captain, Belial... maybe some others
This army is largely magnetised and has option parts kicking around. Is partly painted in an alternate scheme... I could power on and finish it and then sell, or strip it clean and sell. dunno which would be better.

A smaller, but not tiny shelf of Skaven that could go to make way for something for Kings of War This is 80% painted, could strip it or not.. again unsure.
80 clanrats,
20 plague monks,
4 rat ogres with handlers
bunch of giant rats with handlers
screaming bells
few characters
4 weapons teams

A shelf of 40k Orks that I want to keep and expand upon theres a blog for these in my sig not had any time to work on them for a while though because of putting it all into helping the nephew with his Chaos Marines.

Basically looking for a little advice from those who have sold (or bought) mid to large sized collections secondhand. Am trying to consider what is a reasonable guestimate of the value, and the best way to go about it before proceeding.

Personally, go with your heart, do you actually play the games? If not then look harder at the ones you do not play. If you still can not decide then look at what no one plays in your area. I love the KoW ruleset myself but no one plays it or even wants to play it for some reason.

If this still does not work, well I can't do anything for you but I will ask this. If you can't complete what you have, then why sell off what you have that is all partially completed just to buy stuff that is not even worked on yet?

You raise some very good points.

I don't know what the local game of choice is tbh.. I supsect 40k though.
Theres a local gaming club that I should go check out on Saturdays. They might play allsorts.

My nephew getting into 40k means I'l be playing some 40k at home, and am building a table for that. But I want to be using the Orks, for two reasons; firstly the force isnt massive so I can collect allong side my nephew with his CSM, and secondly I'm enjoying painting them a lot more than marines.

The space factor; I suppose I could pack them up and store them elsewhere. But If doing that I figure I might aswell part with them to aid active hobby interests ... ofcourse it depends on realistic price and all that.

The skaven can go, theyve sat there long enough to get cobwebs :S

Edit; How about being painted? stripped better? the colours are not the codex dark green Dark Angels, Theyre purple, with yellow trim and weapon cases, Ravenwing are the same but with Black vehicles, Deathwing are bonewhite with yellow weapons and purple details. So they dont really mesh into an existing dark angels force well. I could complete the army, and sell it as a finished whole I guess. Or I could strip it clean and sell it that way, or repaint it to codex scheme for a wider audience,

.... Youve made me think a lot hehe, I might even use them to experiement at selling my painting; dont they say the way to judge it is to paint a unit and auction it, if the price goes above retail then your painting is worth something otherwise keep practising?
