So what to do with Vanilla SM Landspeeders?

I think since they're so light they're really just a diversion? As in like throw something cheap on a squadron of them and threaten infantry with em, thereby forcing your foe to shoot down the Landspeeder or have his Infantry chewed up?

What are your thoughts?

And yes by the way I know Landspeeders suck so I don't need to hear your thoughts on that.

edit: I should mention that I just got me a free Landspeeder and some Attack Bikes so I'm looking at ways to use them.

Landspeeders are in fact one of the best units in the codex being able to be customized able to be customized at will....

Typhoon Speeder - Very good having a 36 Inch range w/ the Heavy Bolter and 48 inches with the Missile Launcher, this speeder is fairly cheap and able to put out good horde or Anti Tank from far. Rating- 8/10

Dual Multi Melta Speeder - Drop in with two Multi Meltas to blow up a more expensive tank, I like it, however it won't last very long so if you whiff your to hit rolls then you're screwed. Best with deep strike. Rating- 6.5/10

Dual Heavy Bolter Speeder- Cheap with a fair amount of anti infantry firepower. This speeder is very average and as such, never talked about. Rating 6/10

Dual Heavy Flamer Speeder - The Bane of Scouts, Fire Warriors, Rangers and anything with a 4+ or that relies on cover. Best with deep strike. Situational at best, however with a cheap cost you really have nothing to lose. Rating - 5.5/10

Assault Cannon Speeder - Fairly expensive, short ranged, and fragile, this speeder has very little to love about it. Rating 4/10

Don't forget the MM/HF speeder. Normally, you don't want to mix roles on a given unit, but on a cheap throwaway speeder the opportunity cost is small and it gives you a much wider range of targets.

1st and 2nd Company - 5000pts
86th Ultramar Regiment - 4000pts
Hive Fleet Kraken - 3000pts

Or Typhoon heavy flamer speeders. Lots of templates, or if your going for anti tank there not as bad as you would think vs rear armor.

I dunno there is just something cool about the flimsy speeder rocketing across the table...

Maybe the Landspeeder would be good to strike near a Locator?

ps: now I've got two Landspeeders!
