Do any chapters other than the Ultramarines (obviously) have their home worlds within Ultramar, or do other chapters operating in Ultramar just work with the Ultras for a time and then move on?

As far as im aware. those in ultramar are either
1. Ultra Marines.
2. Chapters descended from Ultramarines (and therefore loyal to them)

But its been a while since I've read stuff on ultramar.

Definitely only UM and UM successors.

I'm pretty sure its only the Ultramarines themselves who call Ultramar home.

I'm pretty sure one planet and solar-system would be for one chapter. The whole point of the Codex Astartes was to make the Chapters smaller and spread out so as to protect the wider humanity. Yeah, still close enough to help out in times of trouble, but not so close that they're getting tithes/resources from the same pool.

The Segmentum Ultima is almost the entirety of the eastern Imperium. It's a truly huge section of space, and there are many non-UM Chapters from there. The Crimson Fists being one of them, as Rynn's World is within the Segmentum Ultima.

Ultramar itself is much, much more than a single system. It's actually the south-east corner of the Ultima Segmentum, and comprises, like, a dozen different systems, with numerous worlds in each (though not all are detailed, obviously). Though it is likely that all of these systems are under the authority of the UM or one of their Successors.

Agreed with Psienesis.

Don't confuse Segmentum Ultima, which is comprised of several thousand populated worlds, with Ultramar, which is a singular solar system.

One can support hundreds of chapters, the other can only support 1!

Aye. Only the Ultramarines make their home in the realm of Ultramar. But they would certainly welcome almost any Chapter on a worthy quest that needed to refuel or rearm. And they would welcome the assistance of those same Chapters if they happened to pass by when the UM faced a significant problem.

See the Battle for Macragge - there was no one else there than the Ultramarines (and the entire Battlefleet Bakka of the Imperial Navy sealing the fate of the Tyranid fleet) so it stands to reason very few Chapters live close enough to offer assistance within any reasonable timeframe.

Ultramar's realm is cut much smaller after the HH. When the legion divided into chapters it divided the "500 worlds of ultramar" among its successors.

So while maccrage and it's core surrounding systems only belong to the ultramarines the easetern fringe is teaming with ultramarine successor chapters and their holding territories.

I seem to recall reading the white consuls are from the "greater ultramar region"

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Many Ultramarines successors make pilgrimages to Macragge to see the Shrine of the Primarch, so I assume that other chapters being around in small numbers is a common occurrence.

The closest thing you'll find is the Genesis Chapter which while not in Ultramar are so close and so intertwined with the Ultramarines they are almost like a reserve force for them.

The last two Space Marine Codices have put the White Consuls homeworld on the opposite side of the galaxy.

5th edition codex stated that the Eagle Warriors are constantly on campaign on the worlds conquered by Guilliman during the Great Crusade - I imagine a fair few of those would be close to Ultramar, if not within it as well.
