Chaos steeds are 25*50 as normal Cav
I see most people basing daemonic steeds on 40*40 but it might not be the "official" size, if there is one

On topic, I've seen everyone places their Skaven War Litter on a 40x40mm base, but as there is no official model for it, is there some other precedence for it, or is it simply a matter of it being a defacto standard as a result of it making the most sense?

There's no official model for a War-litter nor for a RO-Bonebreaker, nor any official ruling to their size
it's just common practice to place them on 40*40, and it makes kind of sense as well as it's either 4 normal SV carrying it or a strong Rat-Ogre
