Next one! Any advice for 50 point lizard list? I have a good mix of the existing models. What do you think?

And if you want to jump to my next question, that will be 50 pts of Vandalands... I'm hoping to have three lists ready for the beginner events, possibly even printed army lists. Is there a quick sheet for the game downloadable anywhere?
Thanks all!

While we are here...

I have managed to put my hands on a lot of warband sets(Aquatar, Axony, Ribenguo, Civitas, Vandalands, Zabar).

I want to make a fixed list of every one of these so they would be kinda balanced against eachother. Miniaturevise each has what is in the warband box.

The goal is to have steady lists so I can demo the game in V2.

(of course the actual miniatures are far from finished, but there will be no place to play either until later...)

I guess that each warband box worth 25fd and maybe some LB, but Vandalands has no access to ranged units for example.

Hey there Hob,

I play Cold Bloods and really like a balanced force combining one or two squads of Assassins, with a squad of Sand Guard led by both a Monitor and a Vizier. That should eat up a lot of your points, especially if you're equipping your assassins with pistols - I do one squad with and one without and throw Hassan in the upgraded squad if I can afford it.

With whatever's left, I try grabbing a standard or horn for the Monitor or throw a squad of Mammilian Slaves and a Driver. These guys are a great charge shield for your heavier Guard and allow you to counter assault effectively. Since you can buy them with Fd, Gd, or Lr you'll usually have a decent sized squad of them. I'd make an actual list for you, but my BF rulebook is on my other comp and it's down with a burned out power supply, lol. Hope that helps!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Since you're both asking about Vandals I'll try a list for both of you, and then see about working through the rest.

Vandals can use Berserkers as Viklanders if you alter the model enough (paint specific parts, color the base, use a different bit, etc) giving them a bow unit. They are a little more expensive, but remember that Vandalands can have up to 150 FD if they convert their other resources. Even with a low choice of ranged units, you can still choke the enemy on your dead.

A decent way to make a rather powerful unit, is to take a Warlord with Lordly Caliber Rank 2 or higher. He only has a HM of of 3 to trigger the effect, so make sure he has a +HM banner to bump it to a 5. Pair him with a Horde of Rat Raiders as Dishonor Guards, and their 3 AR 1 AR shield becomes 4 AR Shield, making them tough to take down for nearly anyone. If you take LC to rank 4, they can rush across the field and make a decent charge with their pikes (just remember the Warlord will slow them down with his lower charge range!)

So 15 Raiders is going to run you 75 FD, a Fallen Heroes Banner is 5LR/5GD. That leaves you somewhere between 20 LR/45 GD and 45LR/20D. Balanced out as best you can, -25 FD leaves you with 35LR/30GD or 30LR/35GD. Lets say you want something that hits a little harder or has that ranged weapon. Hamsters cover that, and taking "Have a Drink on Me" as your Warlord's lvl5 boon will help you a lot.

Its your decision whether you want two axes, or or bows. Dump the resource your hamster type doesnt use (Gold for Berserkers, Lumber for Viklanders) into food. This gives you, essentially, 30 FD + 30/35 of the other resource. So You'll get 6 'zerkers, or 6 viklanders out of it. Leaving you with 5 Resources. This can get you a horn of your choice, a Grenade, or Jar of Hyperian Fire for the Warlord. Timed right, one of the horns is likely your best bet. A +MS is an easy choice for your raiders, especially if you take the 'zerkers as well, but a +RS for viklanders can help them take out a unit too far from your melee troops. Alternatively, with a range-less list, the Albatross Horn can keep your units safe just when you need them to be. Blow it after someone blows the +RS horn, just to see the look on their face!)

I also own multiple forces for Brushfire for demoing.

I usely use Aquitar and Vanderlands for demo games, but started Ribenguo because of their popularity and requests to try out that faction. I'm planning on putting together a Anoxy demo force soon, for the same reason.

I always considered Aquitar, Vanderlands, and Civitan as the "poster child" factions of the game so I always gravity towords one of thows three when it comes to sujestioning factions to run demo games from.

Aquitar and Civitas were our first armies available, followed by Vandals and Riben. I can see why the first three are seen as the 'smurfs' of BF, as theyre directly related, form a triumvirate of countries around which the game's history revolves, etc.

I would say now, though, that Riben and Aquitar are the premier poster child factions. They cover a good east and west theme, for those that prefer european or asiatic influences in their armies, and both are well balanced between ranged and melee units in their selections, yet on a Riben vs Aquitar comparision, the faction's units are different enough to not feel like copies of one another despite their well roundedness.

I'll see about writing up some suggestions for a Riben army tomorrow and possibly an Aquitar army.

What does "poster child" means?

I have made a quick roundup of the point costs of the armies. All I have mentionned costs 25 food, and various amounts of other materials. Since you have one hero, you can buy some extra equipment to it from 25 gold and 10-15 lumber.

My biggest concern is that I'd rather not add extra models into the lists because I only have extra models for half of them.

I don't know if it is possible to write an "open list" that leaves the stances and the hero talents changeable but that would be nice.

Poster Child is a saying that means the example/imagery most readily associated with an organization or product.

Ultramarines are the "poster child" for 40k.

The phrase comes from having a child in your advertising campaigns to associate their image with your cause.
