I play vanilla SM, and usually pair off against a friend of mine who plays Necrons.

I find I am spending a lot of points on high strength weaponry in order to snip his quantum shielding. Once the shields are down I feel like my list is over powered with high strength guns. Without quantum shields I would pack more mid strength weapons into the list.

Has any one found a good way to take out the shields while maintaining a list that works against the low armored vehicles and low(ish) save models?

If only we all had access to gauss weapons.

I was even thinking of allying a small detachment of necron warriors, even though they are desperate allies. May only be worth it in purge the alien though.

Thoughts?

Grav weaponry and close combat. Remember that Quantum Shielding does not affect a vehicle's rear armor, so krak grenades up the tailpipe still work.

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.

Well first we need to know what your list looks like. Second is im assuming that high S refers to lascannons which will outright destroy a necron vehicle half the time it gets a pen. And using necron warriors for anti tank is highly inefficient, I know it sounds cool but they can't strip the shields and to get just 1 hullpoint you would need 13.5 shots assuming the necron player moved.

Best way to wreck the damn necron vehicles is to come to grips with em. Get in there and tear out a fist full of nav control iso-chips and anti-grav engine compression gromets. Shooting them is a death fo a thousand papercuts sometimes. Get in front and behind the damn death dealers and be reletnless. Quantum shielding wont save em from a Chainfist.

Hold out bait to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and then crush him.

As a necron player, there are a few things we don't like from SM players:

- close combat - QS doesn't help rear armor and krak grenades work well. Combine it with a power fist and we cringe.
- lascannons - expensive but putting one in a devastator squad or just a tactical squad can make short work. 1 penetrating hit and then anything but rolling a 1 is going to hurt.
- grav weapons - this is SM gauss and we are mostly a skimmer based army. Immobilizing a skimmer that goes flat out wrecks it.

Notice - I did not say rocket launcher above. It's better to run single lascannons against Necrons for the S9 than the rockets S8.

Everything with QS is open topped and a skimmer (exception is the walker). If you can penetrate, you already are rolling a 3+ on the chart since I don't think there is any S9 ap3. Necron vehicles take glances or get majorly damaged. Just make sure to bring the right tool.

I play Salamanders in Drop Pods, and find that meltas/combi-meltas make short work of them real dang quick.
